We visited La Jolla for two very hot days in June. We knew going in that the hotel would be non-conventional and it was. The view from our balcony was very nice, though the drainage from our a/c and the size kept us from using it. The room itself is quite small as is the bathroom, but we didn't spend much time in the room so that wasn't a problem. We enjoyed the use of the upstairs deck and had it to ourselves for the most part. The inner areas of the hotel were worn and the stairs could be a problem for some as they are very narrow. Our issues were with the toilet that wouldn't flush even though we asked several times to have it fixed, and with the a/c being adjusted when we left our room. We are from the NW, so 90 degree temperatures are not normal for us. We turned the a/c on and went upstairs to sun ourselves and when we got back to our room a note had been left saying that they had turned the a/c down because it was noisy. We were not happy about that at all and said so to the lady at the desk. I was sent an e-mail from the property inquiring about our stay, but received no response to my comments. We would probably stay here again as it is a good value for the area and has a great location. We would however be sure that everything in the room works properly before we'd commit.
