“A good value”

Silverado Resort

4 of 5 stars
Newbury Park, Ca
Apr 12, 2008

Stayed here for two nights in early April. The accommodations are quite nice for the price (we paid $205 per night through Hotels.com)
as they are condos rather than just one room. We had a nice living room, deck and kitchen as well as a nice sized bedroom and decent enough bath....tub/shower combo was roomy. The only issue we had was nonexistent internet access in the room. It required a trip to their business center to access the internet. One night we did hear a rather loud motor noise, which was annoying. Turned out that was the wind machines running at the nearby vineyards protecting the grapes from a potential frost. But that would be no different than anywhere else in the valley on nights that might get below freezing. The wind machines are in all vineyards, and of course you're up there because of the wine, so who could really complain?? Silverado can't be held accountable for that. We didn't not use any of the amenities so I can't speak to those, but their Spa looked great from the outside.

“Wasn't that impressed....”

My best friend and I booked the Spa Girl package at the Silverado Resort and Spa to celebrate our (gulp!) 30th birthdays. We paid $546 per night for a one bedroom suite with two queen beds, 2 spa treatments per night, free breakfast and a free tasting at the William Hill Winery. When I think of a resort and spa I think of very lavish, contemporary rooms in outstanding hotels. Instead, the Silverado is made up of an assortment of short sprawling buildings that contain about 4 units per building. The unit contained a living room with fireplace, full kitchen, bedroom, double sink in bedroom and very small bathroom with a shower only. It was very clean but had not been updated for many years. It would probably be very good for a family that wants to stay for a week or two and cook some of their own meals. Not necessarily a bad place, but not my definition of a resort.

The free breakfast was amazing. The spa is very nice (especially compared to the "resort") but across the street from the units. The treatments were good, especially the massages. Our pedicure was OK, but the ladies who treated us had a wealth of local knowledge and suggestions that were worth it.

“Beware Travelzoo deal”

Silverado Resort

1 of 5 stars
San Francisco, CA
Apr 7, 2008

Beware the Wine Taster's Dream package deal advertised through Travelzoo. We purchased this deal for this past weekend and were unpleasantly disappointed.

The package promised a king room. We checked in around noon but didn't go to our rooms until around 5:30pm. Then, we found out that they had given us a room with 2 twin beds. When I called the front desk to let them know of the mistake, they told us there were no more king rooms available. What peeved me most is why they didn't warn us during check-in that they had to substitute our room.

Also, we were looking forward to using the pool, it was closed.

The picnic lunch at V. Sattui ended up being a $20 gift certificate to be used at their deli. This amounted to fighting the hordes and standing in long lines at V. Sattui and then "picnicking" on a sandwich each with one drink to share.

The free tasting at Artesa is really a buy-one-get-one-free.

I feel that the advertised package was misleading and I wanted to warn others not to have too much expectation.

“Back for our 3rd stay and it was wonderful”

Silverado Resort

Apr 1, 2008

We have stayed here twice, 2 summers ago, last fall and now early spring. Our rate was unbelievable at $235 when we paid $350 last fall for the same room. If you call the hotel direct they have better rates and then you can ask the reservations staff what areas they suggest. We always reserve the 1-bedroom because it has a separate bedroom from the living room and we enjoy the fireplace. The bed was incredible as usual and we slept like babies. We enjoy the Aveda amenities and if you ask the housekeepers for extras to take home they give it to you. We ate in the Grill for breakfast each day and for 2 dinners. We had the flat iron steak last time but they didn't offer it this time. What we liked was the emphasis on sustainable food and their fish is always fresh and incredibly prepared. No Spa this time. It rained but Napa is stil beautiful no matter what the weather is.
We have decided that the off-season is the time to go because they offer specials.

“The Best Place to stay in Napa”

Silverado Resort

5 of 5 stars
Las Vegas
Apr 1, 2008

This is our second time we stayed here at Silverado. Like the first, the rooms are roomy with everything you need. Class operation. If you need your boarding pass printed out a certain time, they do it. Check the website out. Everything thing is nearby for your convenience. Short drive to the 29 Highway which will take you to the wineries. Good restaurant on property as well. If you love to golf, then this is the place for a round of 18 holes.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Very nice property and relaxing. Kitchen and livingroom is what you need.
    • Disliked — Sometimes college kids may keep you up when they come in late.
