“Loved it!”

I loved this place. I went during one of the hottest weekends ever, but I was looking to just relax and get out of the big city. I got there and was shown to our room, which I loved. Very spacious and clean. The best was the privacy. And I loved the breakfast. The amenities were wonderful. Shampoos, conditioners and soaps were great. The staff were very attentive. Always available and ready to satisfy. Short walking distance to a couple of restaurants and shops. I will be going there again in December. Even though I don't want to tell anyone about this gem, I just had to give them kudos.

I decided to stay for one night at Mojave Resort after checking out Tripadvisor to find a place I've never been before. I am a Palm Desert local resident, but had a flood at my home and needed to vacate the premises for awhile, and decided to do one night at the Mojave.

Like others, I was very skeptical when I pulled up in front of this place, it looked a little shady to say the least.

The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and showed us to our room - an oversized King with a patio - #1.

The room itself was actually very large - there was a mini-fridge with beverages for sale, and the bathroom was also very large with great bath products! There were robes for us in the room, and a large closet!

The pool looked great, as did the hot tub, but we didn't partake. The TV in the room got great channels, the bed was comfortable, and there was wireless internet. There was a fireplace in the room as well, and A/C and a fan.

Loved the "old" feel of the entire place, like taking a step back in time. It was so quiet and peaceful, you really could relax and forget about the world for awhile there (which was exactly what I needed while dealing with a flooded home just down the street!!)

The location is great for walking to El Paseo for shopping and restaurants. There's no scenery to speak of from the hotel itself, your view is the parking lot. Of course, I'm not counting the view when the woman staying in the room next to ours walked out of her shower with not even a towel on in full view of her wide open windows -- see what I mean when I say you really lose yourself and think you're alone in the world? haha

I pulled open our shade once and a dead roach popped out of the curtain, but that was the only real complaint that I had.

I would stay there again.

“What a cool place to stay in a hot desert!”

My wife and I stayed at the Mojave resort as a pit stop in the way back from a road trip to Napa, CA. I had found Mojave on TripAdvisor and saw that the reviews were very good and it lived up to the expectations! Not only is this place nicely renovated, comfortable and well staffed, but it is also a very stylish, hip place for young and old to enjoy the good old days of traveling. Mojave still uses a key with the orange diamond shaped key chain that I havn't seen in at least a decade. The staff is very nice and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. On top of it all, the Mojave is very well priced and it is located less than a mile from some of the best shopping in the desert on El Paseo Drive. Thanks Mojave! Keep up the great work!

“Nice & Relaxing”

Mojave Resort

Just spent 3 days at the Mojave Resort & was very pleased. As was stated by another reviewer, this is not a 5-star luxury resort, but a small, clean, & very comfortable oasis in the desert. There were three of us staying in our room, which was good sized and felt very roomy. The 2 queen beds and the bedding were extremely comfortable, and the small kitchenette was very functional.

The grounds were well kept - lots of trees and shrubbery which made for some much needed shade in the desert heat. Because this is not a large resort (in fact it is located in a residential neighborhood), it has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Even with our room facing the pool, noise was never an issue.

The staff could not have been more accomodating. We arrived very early in the day, and though our room was not yet ready, they had it cleaned in a very short period of time and got us checked in right a way.

We will definitely return to the Mojave for another stay.

“We can't decide if we liked it....”

After reading previous reviews I have to say that you should really ratchet your expectations down a bit when coming to this hotel. It's nicely situated off the Paseo. It is a nice re-do of a quaint old 40's motel... the colors and styling are fun and funky. The rooms are clean. The courtyard is a good size with lovely trees and lots of grapefruit! We had two rooms for two nights mid week... a king with Kitchenette and Double Queen -- they were a bit dark, and a bit small, but certainly better than many hotels we've stayed in.
The road is noisy -- and the parking is right outside your window, so people going to their cars in the early morning will talk and slam their car doors only feet from your head... so ask for a room away from the street: #'s 11-20 are the best side.
We had problems with 2 things. First off the maintenance of the courtyard was really not good. Yes, it was a windy week, but another guest and I tried to clean the pool ourselves each day -- other than that no one touched it. Same with the walkways and pool areas -- myself and other guests were sweeping leaves, so they wouldn't blow into the pool. I wiped down the tables each morning as they were covered in dust... no one ever checked to see if they were clean or not. C'mon guys -- the reason people come to Palm Springs is to be by the pool -- isn't keeping it clean a priority? We saw a hotel employee pickup fallen grapefruit but the juice they left was splattered everywhere making the walkways very sticky -- a quick hose down would have helped things immensely.
Secondly, the quality of your stay in this intimate atmosphere depends on the other guests. Our first two days we very much enjoyed the people at the hotel -- moms with their teens (we were travelling with our two sons) a few older couples and two couples with young well mannered kids. But the afternoon of our second day a younger group moved in -- for a wedding I think, and basically started to take things over. We watched as these young men and women carried cases of beer into the rooms. We listened to people talking and stomping around all night -- going to and from rooms and in and out of the resort... and I mean ALL night.. There is no staff on premises after 10 pm so you are basically on your own.
They invited friends over from other hotels (we heard them at the pool on their cell phones) and that put a strain on the facilities (there were only 15 lounge chairs by the pool -- when we left this group had all of them) They had a radio going and were smoking -- If I wanted that I would have stayed at the Desert Springs Marriott. We were VERY glad we weren't going to be there over the weekend and in fact we decided that if we ever did return it would be mid-week only.
So there you have it -- I can see where it could be a great thing -- relatively cheap, with style and old charm, nicely located. But the lack of maintenance and poorly manner guests took the fun out of it for us this tme!
