“Excellent Hotel!”

I got married in Pasadena and had a large group of friends and family stay at the Westin Pasadena from June 14-17. I had stayed once before and was very happy with the hotel so I was very comfortable in having them stay here. Needless to say the hotel was excellent, even better than I had remembered. I heard nothing but glowing reviews about the pool, restaurant, rooms, etc.

I stayed in one of the rooms the night before my wedding and thought it was right on par with the Ritz Carlton Huntington, which is where my wife and I spent our wedding night. The rooms might be a bit on the small side but my brother, his wife, and his 2 kids were happy with their 2 double room.

I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“Good hotel -- for biz traveler maybe not so great”

Stayed at the Westin for two night this past week (Thursday-Saturday)
on biz trip. Overall I would say a very clean, very comfortable stay. My room was on the 6th floor overlooking the main street but was very quiet. Room was very large and had shutters on the two sets of windows as opposed to the standard hotel black out drapes -- nice touch. Bed was outstanding and very comfortable.

Location was key and we had no trouble navigating the area. Staff was friendly and accomodating though room service took way to long. Food was standard but fine for my needs. One breakfast order was screwed up but the staff fixed it immediately and the food services manager called me to make sure everything was ok.

Two issues I had make this only a neutral rating:

Business Center -- they do not have a true "business center". They have several high speed internet stations located in their gift shop so hours were limited and the cost for internet access was RIDICULOUSLY expensive at 50 cents per MINUTE!! For 2.5 hours of time it cost me more than $80.00 with tax which is outrageous. A colleague who had a wireless laptop spent more than an hour on the phone with the Westin IT department trying to get past their firewalls and ultimately was forced to use the gift shop stations at a cost of $50.00. IMHO that is just unacceptable.

Guest Services -- they have a guest services button on their in-room phones which I had to call several times for things like wake up calls and room service. Each time I called the phone rang at least 20 times before someone answered it. On one occassion it rang probably 40 times and then basically disconnected where I had to call them back.

Ok, complaining out the way -- I would stay there again for leisure travel but probably not for business.

“Typical Westin”

I booked this hotel only because I got a decent price on Expedia ($150) for Thurday/Friday night stay. I usually prefer Marriots but this price made it worth a try. I found the hotel to be nicer than expected and would definitely recommend it over the Courtyard Pasadena. The highlights: Bed is of course wonderful and tempting to purchase. Bedding as well is posh and relaxing. I received two extremely comfortable nights sleep and didn't notice any street noise from the 5th floor. The fitness center is probably the best I have ever seen, fully equipped and overlooks the city. If I lived there I would consider purchasing a membership! It also has a steam room (wasn't working at the time) and a dry heat sauna all of which barely looked used. Showers and lockers galore. Headphones freely available. California Pizza Kitchen w/in walking distance as are many other restaurants and shopping. The downsides: No FAN in the Bathroom!! Yikes. We didn't need to use the steam room after all and luckily no one had any digestive issues. Our invoice was off. We were charged for Valet parking we didn't use. When I tried to explain this I was treated as if I were lying, even though I asked up front to be charged for one of their $5.00 water bottles. Self parking was only $6.00 a day but very difficult to find a space. And our ticket never worked in the machine so we had to keep going to the desk for a new one as well as one of our room keys. Our coffee maker didn't work and it took quite awhile to get a new one. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi needed a cleaning but even so, were small and uninviting. Room Service prices were a bit high. Breakfast consisting of 2 eggs bacon toast and coffee was $20 before tax and gratuity. If I received a decent price I would definitely stay again despite the little inconveniences, but I prefer their sister Sheraton Pasadena with their step down patio rooms which usually run comparably in price. However, if it is the heavenly bed and a good workout you are looking for than this is the place!

“Great location, modern hotel”

We stayed for 1 night in April 07 and booked direct through the hotels website (make sure you check out any specials). When first arriving and getting our rental car valet parked ($11 a day) it was clear that this was an upmarket hotel. Staff were helpful, and the room was excellent with 2 extremely comfortable double beds and a coffee maker. We were quite high up and not overlooking the main street, so the room was nice and quiet and you were able to open the window.
It was perfectly placed for us, just off Interstate 210 which was great as we were heading to Palm Springs the next day. I was also having the treat of going to see the LA Dodgers at Dodger stadium that night, and it was an easy 15 minute drive there from the hotel (and more importantly for us back again in the dark).
We were unsure where to opt to stay in Pasadena before we went and actually swapped to this hotel the morning we left for our holiday, I’m glad we did. It was a bit more expensive than we might usually pay for a 1 night stay, but we preferred to stay outside LA itself and form this point of view Pasadena was ideal. Colorado Boulevard was 2 block away with nice shops and restaurants. We did not have any meals in the hotel although there is a California Pizza Kitchen restaurant accessible through the hotel. The hotel does have a swimming pool and small shop.
We would recommend this hotel.

“Great staff - nice stay!”

The Westin Pasadena

Apr 19, 2007

We just returned from a week long stay at the Westin - Pasadena. I was in the area for work and I brought my daughter and mother along. The hotel staff was just great. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I was a little bummed that the room did not have a fridge but when I called the front desk to inquire about getting one - they said "no problem!" and in minutes a fridge was delivered to my room. My mother and daughter used the complimentary shuttle every day and the driver was so great. He suggested places for them to visit such as the Kidspace museum and even called to make reservations for them for 'Tea' at the Huntington gardens. This hotel is conveniently located to several restaurants (California Pizza kitchen and McCormick & Schmick's are right next door) and we often walked a few blocks down the street to Old Town Pasadena. There is also an Asian Art museum across the street that my mom and daughter liked a lot. I would highly recommend staying at the Westin!
