“Great Place!”

Stayed for business at Cal Poly and was very pleased with the accommodations. I can definitely see how the place is perfect for a romantic getaway and am seriously considering going back with my fiancee, but it's also fine for business. Free wireless internet, cable television and a complimentary tasty breakfast make a great choice for business as well.
I am a Marriott elite member, but will more than likely forgoe the new Courtyard going up in SLO to stay at the San Luis Creek Lodge again.

“Excellent Hotel in SLO”

San Luis Creek Lodge

My wife and I booked this hotel mainly because of the excellent reviews that I saw posted on TripAdvisor. The purpose of our trip was a relaxing, romantic, three-day trip to San Luis Obispo and San Luis Creek Lodge couldn't have been a better place to stay! We were pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff upon arriving and given the option to choose what building in which we wanted to stay. All three were excellently appointed and decorated in a unique theme. We fell in love with the Londonderry in particular and stayed there for 2 nights. Coming back from a recent trip from London, I must say that the rooms were completely in the Tudor style and showed much attention to detail. Above all, the hardware, beds, bathrooms etc. all reflect good quality and choice. The bathrooms are all very nice, displaying beautiful tile, sinks etc. As other reviewers noted, the customer service at this hotel is excellent. You get a good sense of a cozy "bed and breakfast" combined with a feel of the quality found at larger hotel chains. The staff was more than happy to suggest ideas on wine touring, good beaches, maps and more!
I don't think you could stay anywhere in SLO with better quality for the amount of money you'll be spending here. Embassy suites is much more expensive and offers none of the 'character' and design found at this hotel.
I will however mention a few minor points that can be improved at this hotel. The bed comforter/blankets are in good style but should should be washed more frequently. We found a few "suspicious" marks but who knows? The bed/pillows are not Sheraton quality and could use slight upgrading to make this a perfect hotel. We could hear a child running around upstairs after 9 in the morning (we like to sleep in!) which was annoying but not really the fault of the hotel's I suppose. Lastly, my wife pointed out that the hair dryer was quite outdated so be sure to bring you own.
Even with these small disappointments, I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends.
I haven't stayed at the Apple Farm but it seems like this is also a better choice, particularly for the value.
Stay here!

Yet another great find from Tripadvisor. And thanks sincerely to all the reviewers on this board for helping us find and feel comfortable booking at these great gems.

San Luis Creek Lodge was so refreshing! Very quiet and comfortable. Our room was very homie and on the second floor. I loved the free popcorn with our movie. A great place to stay in a city that's always a beautiful and hidden getaway.

“A little disappointed”

San Luis Creek Lodge

My husband and I were really looking forward to staying at this hotel after reading the reviews and seeing the photos/description on the hotel's website. I called the hotel to book the room and was quoted a certain price for a room with a fireplace. When we arrived, we were assigned the Crafstman building, but the room did not have a fireplace. When I went to the front desk to inquire about the room/rate, it turns out I was going to be charged the rate for the fireplace room, yet I wasn't staying in one. I managed to get the right rate for our room, but it was a hassle.

We were assigned a room on the bottom floor, which surprised me, considering the hotel was not even close to being fully booked. We should have requested a top floor, because at night, we could hear the couple upstairs.. (if you know what I mean)

That being said, the room itself was very tastefully done. Everything is brand new and in great condition. The bathroom had two sinks and a shower. We didn't mind it didn't have a bathtub.

If we came back to San Luis Obispo, we would be certain to request the top floor and confirm our rate/room when we checked in. Otherwise, it's a nice place to stay. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and the complimentary DVD rental.
