I travel to San Francisco every 6 weeks or so for 4-5 days for business. After a year or two of shuttling between best deal hotels I've decided to make the Inn at Oyster Point my regular haunt.
It's not the newest place in town, but its got all the basics covered at a good rate. But most of all, what is great about it is that the smile at the door is definitely not a corporate smile - its the smile of a hard-working family trying to make this place their future. And they're doing a fantastic job of it. Why give your money to Hilton or Marriot when you can give it to some hard-working Californians?! If your the kind of person who likes to arrive in town and not feel like you are in someplace new, different and unique then this is not the place for you. But if you want to arrive in the Bay Area and get a comfortable room in an inn - and this is truly and inn, not a hotel - run by people who care about you, this is the place. Let's call it a home away from home.
Pros:
-close to SF ($25 cab ride)
-close to BART and CalTrain in Millbrae (I work in Palo Alto and usually dump my car in Millbrae)
-Marina views
-San Bruno Mt views
-jogging along the bayshore
-gas fireplaces in the rooms
-complimentary room service breakfast! (who does that anymore!)
Cons:
-I've yet to find them
