“Family-run respite in a sea of anonymous business hotels”

I travel to San Francisco every 6 weeks or so for 4-5 days for business. After a year or two of shuttling between best deal hotels I've decided to make the Inn at Oyster Point my regular haunt.

It's not the newest place in town, but its got all the basics covered at a good rate. But most of all, what is great about it is that the smile at the door is definitely not a corporate smile - its the smile of a hard-working family trying to make this place their future. And they're doing a fantastic job of it. Why give your money to Hilton or Marriot when you can give it to some hard-working Californians?! If your the kind of person who likes to arrive in town and not feel like you are in someplace new, different and unique then this is not the place for you. But if you want to arrive in the Bay Area and get a comfortable room in an inn - and this is truly and inn, not a hotel - run by people who care about you, this is the place. Let's call it a home away from home.

Pros:
-close to SF ($25 cab ride)
-close to BART and CalTrain in Millbrae (I work in Palo Alto and usually dump my car in Millbrae)
-Marina views
-San Bruno Mt views
-jogging along the bayshore
-gas fireplaces in the rooms
-complimentary room service breakfast! (who does that anymore!)

Cons:
-I've yet to find them

“Top Notch Service, Great Rooms”

My wife and I stayed at the Inn at Oyster Point for two nights and loved it. Everyone who worked at the Inn made us feel like a guest in their house. This includes the front desk, housekeeping, and the driver who took us to the airport. The room was spacious and had a great view of the water. Everything was clean and comfortable. We are flying out of SFO at the end of May and we have already booked our night at the Inn.

“Great location”

We booked the Inn at Oyster Point for the last night of our holiday before flying home to the UK from San Francisco International Airport.
As it was our last night we didn't want to stay in a bland airport hotel, which could have been picked up and set down anywhere in the world, and were thrilled to have found this gem tucked away on an inlet of San Francisco Bay only three miles and ten minutes from the airport.
When we arrived we enquired about dropping off our hire car at the airport and the helpful receptionist suggested it would save us time in the morning if we dropped it off that evening, and said the hotel would pay our return cab fare, which was 17 dollars.
She also arranged for the hotel's shuttle bus to take us to the aiiport at 7am, and after we had checked in telephoned to make sure we had everything we needed.
The rooms were huge with a view of the marina and a pleasant area of parkland. They had large fireplaces, and a very well equipped large bathroom, with Molton Brown toilteries and the smartest robes we had encountered on our trip.
We ate in the restaurant, and although the food wasn't exceptional the service was. Our genial waiter had a quick fire wit and a line in repartee which kept us entertained all evening, and his advice on which dishes to choose was spot on.
A complimentary continental breakfast was delivered to our rooms promptly at 6.30am as promised and our wake up call was delivered by one of the staff, not a robot, as is usual in many hotels these days.
We had booked our two rooms in advance at a very favourable rate, and felt we had received more than value for money. If we ever fly into or from San Francisco again we would definately stay here.

“Close to the Airport; Filthy Carpet”

Inn at Oyster Point

Having read the positive reviews on the Inn at Oyster Point, I was quite disappointed in the cleanliness of the hotel following our recent stay. We spent the last night of our weeklong trip in northern California at the inn prior to our departure from SFO the next morning.

The inn’s external appearance is quite nice and the location on the water makes for a nice plus; however, we were quite surprised to walk into a room and find the carpet to be filthy (huge stains!). In addition, the walls of our room were scuffed up and there were rust stains in the bathroom. It appears the inn may be considerably older than one might first expect. The inn is close to SFO, but otherwise close to nothing of interest. Considering its location in a business park type environment, I’m sure the inn’s primary guests are business clients. Plane traffic is noticeable, but not annoying.

On the plus side, the room was very spacious, the beds were remarkably comfortable, the gas fire place was a wonderful feature on a cool San Francisco morning, the staff was very friendly, and there’s ample parking and space around the inn (no urban congestion).

In summary, if you really need to be near the airport, this is probably the place for you. New carpet and a fresh coat of paint in at least our room would do wonders for the place! If we had to do it again, we would have spent out last night in San Francisco itself (try the Castle Inn on Broadway).

My wife and I spent a week touring the Pacific Coast. We deceided we wanted to be close to the airport on our last day, so we stayed one night here. The hotel is designed to cater to the business traveler.

What a nice find. Rooms are spacious and the service was outstanding. We were absolutely floored by the free continental breakfast they delivered to our room.

There is no doubt that I would stay here again.
