My sister and I stayed two nights here while visiting UMiami. On the second day, we returned to our room and found a paper towel smeared with fecal matter lying on the bathroom sink right next to our toothbrushes and retainers. The general manager (Derek McCeleroy) refused to reverse the charges on my credit card, which is the least that I felt I deserved to compensate me for this trouble. He never returned my phone calls about the matter, and it's been a month and the situation is still not resolved. You'll do yourself a service by avoiding this hotel.

we stayed for one night while visiting the mba department. the room was ok clean but we requested double beds got a king instead. The walls are rather thin and the room next to us were talking, not shouting till 3am which kept us up. Bath remodeled but with the old tub in place, granite on sink and new tile on walls. The public areas at restaurant were nice but the hallways to the rooms need a new coat of paint and carpet cleaning.
The check in person was rather grumpy but it was midnight and they were dealing with a clogged toilet which may account for the lack of pleasant demeanor.
if you are going to the university though the location can't be beat, we just walked over to campus. The restaurant served the typical breakfast but our waiter was very pleasant asking for cheese on an omelet and getting us hot coffee to replace the lukewarm coffee originally served.

We stayed there for three nights. The hotel is old and very loud. We had a parking lot view and a lot of noise from the elevator next to our room. The restaurant was closed whenever we were hungry. On the last day an unannounced all-day fire-alarm test starting at 9am made it impossible to stay in the room. I would never go back there.

I stayed at this hotel during the Christmas holidays in 2006. It is over 40 years old. The hallways show its age and the hall carpet needs shampooing. The rooms are well furnished and recently upgraded after water damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

I missed not having a fridge and microwave oven. I requested a room overlooking the courtyard and pool after reading these reviews, but I still had to look at the Metrorail whooshing along. The hotel staff was helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and delicious with many items to choose from. Their location was excellent, and I never had to wait more than two minutes for a taxi.

I enjoy evening swims in outdoor pools in Miami. Thus, I was sadly disappointed when I discovered that the pool was so cold that I could not immerse myself in it. For $150 per night, they could afford to provide a heated pool for guests.

Another annoyance I encountered was that the business center's Internet service is obnoxious to use because every three minutes you are interrupted by a timer that asks if you want to get off. After 20 minutes, the computer automatically shuts down.

In conclusion, because of the importance of warm-water swims to me, I would not choose this hotel for a winter-time stay again.
