“Beautiful oceanfront hotel”

Sheraton Suites Key West

We stayed 5 nights and had a very nice time. The room was very large, quite adequate for myself, husband and teen son. The kingsize bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The sofa was a pullout with an extension to the side that you could sit or lie on (or use as an extra bed for a small one) when the sofa was opened up which was quite nice. The A/C worked well. Bathroom was very large with fully tiled shower big enough for two. Only two things that need repair in the bath...the porcelain handle on the toilet was cracked when we arrived and by the time we left it had broken off. Also the floor outside the shower was always wet as the grout under the frame was gone. We will let the hotel know about this. Large balcony overlooked the ocean, had 2 comfortable chairs and a small cocktail table. The coffee maker was the worst I have ever seen in a hotel. It was a one-cup model that you put premeasured pouches in. Altho it was Starbucks coffee that was provided free of charge, the coffee was too weak and tasted terrible. Maid service was fine but they only came in 2 times in the 5 days we were there. We left the room for 3 hours and came back and still nobody had come. We asked them for some towels and put the trash out in the hallway for pickup. The pool was very nice with a 6 foot deep end. Not very safe for small children as it had no baby pool, the hot tub was great. Plenty of towels poolside. Very nice bar area overlooking the pool with afternoon live entertainment daily. Laundry room was a hike but close to the pool so we went there while the clothes were washing. $2.00 for wash, $2.00 for 45 min. dry time. We ate at the breakfast buffet twice, some said it was pricey but for $15/pp you can eat your big breakfast and still be full and skip lunch so to us it was a good deal. The grounds were kept beautifully. Free hourly shuttle service to town, free shuttle to airport. Overall, a very nice hotel even tho the exterior could use a few cosmetic upgrades.

Visited Key West on April 9 and 10th, 2008. Great Location with the Smatheres Beach right across the street. Hotel was ready for us with early check in. Very nice room. Looked very new. 3 of us fit comfortably. The grounds were landscaped beautifuly and everyone there was very nice and polite. Will definetly stay there again.

“Great Hotel, Reasonable Rates!”

My husband and I stayed at The Sheraton Suites for four nights in April and we had a very good experience. We got a lovely, spotless 3rd floor room with a balcony for $206.00 per night using our AAA discount. This two room suite had a mini-kitchen with decent sized table, two TVs, and huge marble bath with lots of drawers and cabinets. It could easily accommodate a family of four or five. The room was cheerfully decorated in shades of yellow and blue, with plenty of sunlight from white shuttered window and big sliding glass door. The property is well-maintained, and enhanced by lush tropical landscaping. It is true that the pool is somewhat smaller than average, but it is lovely, perfect temperature, with a waterfall and was never crowded or noisy during our stay. There is a cute outdoor bar serving just OK food and, (if Shelley is bartending,) outstanding banana daiquiris! She was the nicest of several very helpful staff we encountered, including an efficient concierge and a sympathetic front desk clerk who kindly extended our check-out until 2pm when I was not feeling well. My one concern when I booked this hotel was whether it's location in a quiet area several miles from Duval St. and Mallory Square would be a problem since we did not rent a car, but it really was not. We took the shuttle in (we only had to stand one time). We generally took taxis back to the hotel or when we went to the wonderful Louie's Backyard. This small added cost was well worth it considering the hundreds of dollars per night we were saving compared to downtown hotels such as the Ocean Key or the Westin, both of which I checked out while we were there; they were nice, but, in my opinion, not worth the extra money.

“Not great with kids”

Sheraton Suites Key West

Apr 16, 2008

My husband, three kids and I went to Key West for one week. We had never been before and wanted to go somewhere "tropical" without leaving the country. We had an "ok" time. Let me start by saying we are not hard to please...but found that the area was very overpriced and a bit run down. We stayed at the Sheraton Suites. The room was nice and big, updated inside however on the outside the hotel was lacking. Seemed a bit rundown. The pool area was a lot smaller than it seemed in the hotel photos online. The hot tub was broke for about three out of our five day trip. Best thing was the conceriege. She was great! Was very knowledgeable about all the excursions. Across from the hotel was a public beach....beware it is 30.00 for two chaises and a umbrella. Sandy area is small and no waves, however beach was quiet and relaxing, we enjoyed it. We did the Ultimate Adventure boating, which included snorkling, jet skiing, water trampoling, parasailing. It costs around 600.00 for a family of five and included breakfast and lunch. At reservations they were not very organized and we were sent to 2 different locations before we could check in for our trip. They couldn't find our reservation, so they had to re enter it which took a while. Even though I had a receipt which included a deposit. Duval street is probably great if you are there to party but with three kids in tow we didn't get much out of it. We ate at The Grande @ Key West which was very upscale but the staff seemed very snobby. Cheesburgers in Paradise was horrible, don't bother wasting your money, There was also a seafood buffett that we ate at on Duval not great. We did eat at one Italian restaurant of off Duval which was great! Best meal while we were their. All in all, I don't think Key West is geared towards families more for singles, couples. Would we go back? No, it was an "ok" vacation. Spent 6k between the airfair/hotel/food/beach/excursion. If you have a large family my advice would be to stick to the all inclusives.

“Great location, good services..”

My wife, daughter (4yrs), and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel was nice and clean. We liked our room very much. We had 2 TVs, a fridge, and microwave. Everything worked well. The only service that was spotty was the WIFI.

We loved the location right accross the road from Smather's Beach. There are vendors along the road so it was easy to find lunch at the beach.

There is a free shuttle into town that runs every hour. They also have a van for service to the airport. Call ahead though to make sure it is available.

All in all, we had a great time in Key West and the hotel met all of our needs.
