Wife and I stayed April 2-5, 2008.

Stayed in an ocean view king suite and loved it. The bed was comfortable, ample closet and drawer space, nice bathroom with dual vanities, tile shower and separate bath, nice wet bar like kitchen with microwave, mini-fridge, cups, plates, silverware, blender, and toaster. View was nice overlooking the pool and the adjacent beach. Had a nice safe in one closet that you programmed a new code every time you locked it, so no keys and no pre-programmed pass codes.

Beach was VERY rocky, and if you want to use it, aqua-socks would be required. Pool was clean and clear.

Hotel is located at the quiet end just off Duval, and we regularly walked to all the attractions. Only took the car out once to check out other areas of Key West.

Construction noise was present, and did wake us one morning at 7:30am, but only one morning. They are building adjacent to the hotel, but we really didn't notice the noise. They've blocked view of the construction site (and prevented dust and debris) with plastic.

Check in was a breeze, parking was sufficient, but if they were very busy, you probably would have to park across the street at their other hotel.

The good points - a great pool, one of the best I have been in. Clean and clear, and we had it mostly to ourselves! Our room was clean, the beds were comfy and there was enough wardrobe and cupboard space.

BUT the building work that is going on at the moment was more annoying than we had been told. The workmen seemed to do the loud pile driving from 7 am in the morning. We lay there wide awake from 7 am one day - the day we were supposed to have our lie in on. We complained to the management but they could not do anything. Oddly when we lay by the pool we didn't hear any noise - they seemed to be noisiest early in the morning!

Also, our room was on the ground floor and cars parked right outside the window. So we kept the blinds shut when we were in the room in the day which made the room slightly dark. The hotel gave us an extra lamp as soon as we asked.

At the end of our stay, because we had complained about the noise and the light, we were given 10% discount off our bill, which we were pleased about.

I think I would have preferred to have a more central location, this hotel was right at the end of Duval Street, with all the action at the other end! My mother did not want to walk a mile every day to get there so we took taxis.

So overall, clean pretty hotel, helfpul staff, fantastic pool, but I was disappointed, especially for the price.

stayed from Friday - Tuesday, noise was not a problem, parking was ok, rooms were nice and better appointed then a "motel" as described before. Pool was good enough for me. Meal and drinks at the beach bar were fine and staff was helpful. We were allowed early checkin.

As far as expense, everything in Key West, food, drinks lodging is expensive. it was nice to be able to walk to so much (we did take a taxi to a sunset cruise at the Westin Dock). None of the pools were spectaular, but they were generally uncrowded, and we injoyed the tiki bar at the sister resort.

The beach was seaweedy and water was murky (beause of high winds).

To celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we decided to forego our original honeymoon site (Banff, CA) for the warmer climes of FL. We decided on Key West, where 40 years ago my family used to vacation during spring break at the then Sun and Surf Motel..which is now the beautifully renovated and expanded Southernmost On the Beach Hotel. We stayed 4 nights.

Southernmost On The Beach (SOTB) is one of two hotel properties (the other is Southern Most on Duval), with a third property currently under construction. We were aware of the construction prior to booking- our room was closest to the front office so we experienced little if any inconvenience. Our room was on the first floor with a partial ocean/beach view.

Whats to love: location: (short walk to Duval), private beach and cafe, large swimming pool-and use of their other heated pool/tiki bar across the street, private sunning pier/sundeck,friendly staff, clean freshly decorated rooms, highspeed internet connection, on-site mini-store/tourist assistance.

It was a wonderful place to spend an anniversary.
