This is the finest location and property I have ever seen in Key West. Having stayed at various locations in Key West and now having stayed at Southernmost, I wouldn't even think about staying anywhere other than Southernmost and its annexes, Dewey House and La Mer. The facilities, staff, cleanliness, furnishings and service were all flawless.

Beautiful views! Great Service! The ongoing construction did not disturb us at all. Heard people complaining about the beach because it was not pristine and had some seaweed on it. I saw them rake it twice during our 4 day stay. The water was calm and beautiful. The beach chairs were free but they will charge you $5 for using an umbrella and there were no signs warning you of this extra charge. The sunning pier was great with chairs, umbrellas and steps right down to the water, if you aren't a big fan of sand, this is great! The pool was beautiful and staff was extremely helpful. About 1mile walk to the action end of Duval but nice that the Inn wasn't near all the noise. Prices are a little steep but overall it is worth it. Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed in room 404 right on the beach and it was wonderful!
Our room was clean and made up twice a day. Cold bottled water was always available in our room along with an ice and water dispenser located outside. Slipper and bathrobes were provided which was a nice touch. Beach chairs were free but to rent an umbrella it was $10 a day. If you need shade you can always find a palm tree. The continential breakfast and tea served daily was always fresh and delicious. Because of this, we were able to hang out at the beach all day and went out each night for a big dinner. We did eat a few meals at the Southermost Grill and although the food was great, it was a bit pricy. It was a great place to stay and still be able to walk up Duval street at night for the night life. The restaurants in town were fantastic and we never had a bad meal. All staff members were nice and attentive and were prompt with calling for cabs, etc. If there was a downside it was not the construction going on next door which was easy to ignore but the staff's use of the tractor to remove seaweed off of the beach. We thought this was something that could be done early morning or late afternoon, not in the middle of the day where we had to watch and listen to the tractor for a hour or so. All in all we had a nice week and would recommend Southernmost to anyone.

Positioned at the Southern end of Duval Street The Southernmost on the Beach is a fine facility. Our room as requested had full ocean view and the detail of its appointment compensated for its small size. To park the car at reasonable distance from the room is a continuous battle every time you move your car. Insufficient spots. The beach bar/restaurant though far from gurmet is a nice plus. Despite all these said, and even without what really upset us, we thought it was overpriced. The check-in was exceptionally friendly.

The problem was the housekeeping. Or rather, the lack of it. The room was not made up the entire day (we stayed 2 nights). A quite uncooperative property manager (Adelheit S.) failed to accomodate our basic and repeated requests to clean the room. Why she sent a housekeeper exactly in the single half an hour that we were in despite that she knew that we are leaving in minutes (we had been out for the rest of the time from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm) and then she accused us rudely of refusing service I can have only one guess: they are serious staff problems at the Southernmost and therefore the service is substandard at best..

An iritating factor is the "sweet" barrage of correspondence that the management showers on the prospective and past visitor. They requested a post-stay evaluation, but as this turned out to be negative they left it without any answer. Just a good PR, a receptive response, would have taken care of this iriate and wronged customer and I would have gladly forfeited this public review. However, they haven't got either a polite property manager, a good housekeeping service or a smart PR person.
