I booked this hotel based on its reviews and the price we got. Before arrival I was a bit worried that the location might be too far off from downtown, but this was unnecessary. The walk is about 20 minutes and it’s down one street, which has some restaurants and other activities. Hotel has plenty of parking space available.

At the check in we were greeted by probably the friendliest (and smiling) man I’ve ever met. He gave us all the necessary details about the hotel as well as some recommendations for dinner etc.

Room was nice (standard twin room) with clean interior. It wasn’t huge, but enough for two persons. The bathroom was large and I have to give a plus for the fridge. We didn’t have a balcony, but we didn’t mind, as sitting at the hotel wasn’t one of our plans. We didn’t have any problems sleeping nor was there much noise in the room.

We had breakfast at the close by café on the beach – very nice! Just abt. 100 meters from the hotel and it had good service with sea view. The beach itself isn’t worth mentioning as it is rather small. If you want to relax on the beach I would suggest you go somewhere else.
The pool area was clean and rather hot as there was no wind. We didn’t try the tiki bar as there were plenty of bars in the center.

Nice, very comfortable hotel with an ok location. It’s definitely not luxury, but just a bit above average.

What a way to experience Key West. Our first time there and the hotel was beautiful! The property (consists of four total hotels clustered together) was very quaint and tropical and gorgeous! As a guest, you can use the ammenities of all four properties (pools, beach, etc.). The rooms were decorated beautifully and kept very clean. The hotel is within a short walking distance of the ocean and many shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We spontaneously went to Key West the last week of March '08 and walked into Southernmost Hotel w/out a reservation. Got a 2nd floor room w/ a King bed and balcony for $213/night + tax. Considering I am a research queen and only book hotels after feaverishly reading all the reviews on tripadvisor, we were extremely happy with our impromptu choice of staying at the Southernmost Hotel. It had the right "look" from the outside and we found it to be a very clean, nice hotel. The room was very spacious, the bathroom immaculate, and the pool was beautiful with it's cute fish-shaped chairs and sparkling water. Only complaint I can even think of is that their jaccuzi's jets were very weak. That's it. We were very happy there and would absolutely stay there again.

We stayed in Key West Saturday, April 5 without a reservation, as we were checking into a cottage the next day for four nights. I called the Southernmost On The Beach and was quoted a room with two queen size beds for $199. I asked to book it but the woman who answered said there were a lot of beds available for this price, and to just come on over. And so we did.
A woman named Veronika, who clearly does not understand she works in the HOSPITALITY business, told me the SOTB was booked, but that there were rooms at the Southernmost. When I told her the rate we were quoted, she insisted there was no such rate and that the room would be $279. She was extremely rude to us, even suggesting we'd called another hotel in error. (I pulled the number up from my cell to show her.) Finally, she called someone who said yes, they were selling rooms for $199. NO APOLOGY, just proceeded with the check-in. And, the first confirmation she pulled up for me to sign had the $279 price.
After this, our experience was OK. The room looked fresh and clean but there were stains on the bedcoverings . It was an OK place to stay for one night. I wouldn't go back, as I prefer something with a little more personality -- both in the hotel/inn as well as in the people who work there.
