I had received a recommendation by a friend to reserve the Truman Hotel for an upcoming stay with my parents from overseas that have never been to Key West. I checked out their website and used the check availability option to contact the hotel. While inputting my information I am stating my university email address as preferred option to receive the hotel’s reply. When I get a response stating the first line introductory information states the following: "Please be advised that all guest must be 25 and older to stay here unless with parents". Great first impression I must say. Now you are discriminating against me because I am inputting my school's email and you automatically assume that my party is a crazy underage group that you rather not have. Furthermore the price indicated is 30$ higher than the price quoted to my friend who had called 10 minutes prior to me sending out the email request indicating the same room type and dates. Overall I obviously prefer to take my business elsewhere. What a way to make a terrible first impression and to do quite the opposite than making a potential guest feel welcome. I work for a major hotel company myself and feel appalled to experience such lack of professionalism. The email response was signed as the "front desk" (no name) which means that the hotel should probably reevaluate their hiring criteria to prevent loss of business due to unfortunate circumstances like this in the future.

My sister had stayed here 6 months earlier and she recommended The Truman. We arrived in Key West with no hotel booked so we looked around first. A few places near Mallory Sq were very expensive and fully booked. We tried a few quest houses, but some smelled mouldy and the rooms were small and old furnishings. We looked for the Truman to check for availality, they had one room left and we took it as the price was right, the location was great and the hotel itself was flawless. The rooms were decorated well, very new everything, Gorgeous Bathroom and Shower. Large Flatscreen TV, desk, comfortable king bed. No pool, but I think they have plans for one. All in all a very nice hotel and I would recommend.

This little cozy hotel is simply gorgeous! I love Truman.
Whole hotel was remodeled recently and it is so cute, the rooms are smaller, but they are fantastic, I loved the bathroom and very comfortable beds.
The hotel is situated a few steps from famous Duval street, so you can enjoy the nightlife and you room is very close, but not so close that you can hear the noise - it is very quiet hotel.
I also liked the breakfest - it is served outside in the courtyard of the hotel.

I just got back from wonderful Key West for my 30th Birthday. There were 14 of us, some couples, mostly single ladies. We had a BLAST! The Truman Hotel was 2 blocks from Duval Street but far away enough from the bars that you could sleep (when we actually went to bed at the wee hours of the night). The rooms are brand new and very stylish and great beds. The bathrooms had the sit alone sinks and wonderful waterfall showers and flat screen tvs. All in all, it was great. I decided to stay one more night and they gave me the same rate of $199 instead of the jacked up rate of $349 b/c of the sailboat races were in town. Beth was great to deal with at the front desk. There's no pool yet, but with so much to do, we didn't even miss having a pool. Great fresh breakfast in the morning too. Stay here! It's fabulous.
