We stayed at this resort as a base for taking in a bunch of MLB Spring Training games, as well as visits to the Universal theme parks. We stayed on a timeshare exchange belonging to one of my travelling companions. The resort's proximity to I-4 and route 417 (the Central Florida Greenway) makes it a great location for heading west toward the Tampa area and east toward the Space Coast. The south entrance to Disney World is less than a mile away, and the Wide World of Sports complex (Spring Training home of the Atlanta Braves) is only minutes away.
The resort is fairly small and somewhat spartan. The pool is nice and has a bar/snack bar, but other than a tennis court and a shuffleboard court, there isn't much in the way of ammenities. The "nature trail" is a short boardwalk that leads to the Vacation Village Resort.
The people at the front desk are very helpful and pleasant. I especially want to compliment Farena (please pardon my possible misspelling). We showed up around 10:00 just to scope out the place, and inquired about early check in. She said it was doubtful that anything was ready, but offered to start the paperwork for us and asked for our preference in buildings and floor. We asked for third floor with the balcony facing the woods where the natue trail is. She discovered that there were actually two units cleaned and ready to go in the building we wanted. We were in the unit within five minutes!! (Building H, third floor)
The units are comfortable and well laid out. The main problem is that the second bedroom only has two twin beds which are not very comfortable for an adult. Also, while smoking is not allowed in the units, it is allowed on the balconies. The folks below us smoked out there pretty frequently, and the fumes drifted directly up into our balcony. We had to move inside and close the doors to keep the smoke out of our unit. Ugh!
The kitchen contains a is fairly well stocked with dishes, utensiles, and pots & pans, however it does lack a dish drain for the items that you wash by hand.
While this resort does not compare in overall quality to the Marriott Grande Vista or the Sheraton Vistana, it is perfectly adequate for a week-long stay. Unless they provide larger beds in the second bedroom and ban smoking on the balconies (like Marriott Grande Vista has just done), I probably wouldn't stay here again. If these features aren't a problem for you, I would recommend this resort.
