The hotel itself is like any other Courtyard; basically good and comfortable. With that having been said, I really don't think I'd stay here again.
We booked for the night before a cruise and decided to rent a car to make dinner, breakfast (which is not included) and lunch easier as well as to prevent having to be bound by the shuttle schedule to the cruise port - the shuttle is not free, by the way, although it is available as part of a special package and winds up costing about $20 per room.
It took us a solid 30 minutes to find the hotel, and that is with printed directions. Even when we got into the parking lot, we could not tell if we were at the proper hotel since there is another Marriott sharing the grounds and the Courtyard has no external signs whatsoever, save for the mat in front of the door. My daughter actually had to get out of the car and walk to the entrance to verify that we were at the Courtyard. The sign facing the road is miniscule and back from the street so it is very hard to spot at night.
As another review noted, there is a 24/7 guard in the lot. Well, when I watched the morning news, I found that there had been a police action with a person shot virtually outside the hotel during the night...and they told me I could walk to nearby restaurants!
To be fair, the neighborhood's problems can't be blamed on the hotel, but I cannot see myself staying in this area again.
