Recently stayed at this hotel for a convention. What a beautiful location. If you like golf and beautiful surroundings, this is the hotel for you.

Great rooms and wonderful grounds. It's a Marriott so it's not inexpensive but in the case of this hotel, you get what you pay for.

Excellent service and attention to detail. Beautiful true historic Florida style luxury!

“Just better than average”

I stayed recently for conference. The staff was very accomodating. I got there 7 hours before check-in and they told me they would call when my room was ready. I'm used to this as being something to placate the guest, however within 1 1/2 hours I was called and my room was ready. It was a normal small room hotel room, nothing special except for the bed which was very comfortable (I usually have trouble sleeping in hotel beds but not here). The concierge, bell staff and wait staff I met were all very nice, and the groundskeepers and rest of the staff always smiled and said hi when I passed by. There is little to do but golf (I am not a golfer), however since I was in conferences most of the time I did not mind.
Overall the facility was a little worn, but the staff was very friendly and helpful.

“Needs an Overhaul”

Doral Golf Resort and Spa

Stayed at Doral for a business meeting. Golf was superb, most everything else needs work. Pool area was quite shoddy and rundown with the absolute worst food we have ever encountered. We had booked two adjoining rooms, one was ready at check in but the second was not. We were told someone would bring our key at 4pm when the room was ready. At 7:30pm (after 2 caalls to the front desk) I finally went to the front desk to get the key. Found the hotel in general to be dirty, and moldy.

Golf was very nice, but even the staff at the course were lacking. Told we could not get water or ice before our round as everything was closed (at 4:30pm! ). Starter was more concerned with the drink someone was bringing him and it's cost then with getting us out on the course. Practically had to beg him for a scorecard! Not what we expected for a resort with the Doral name

Hardly a SPA. Facilities fine but if your looking for peace and quiet forget this place. it is located on the end of Miami International Airport Runway.

If you don't like golf then this place has nothing more to offer.

“Comfortable Beds but noisy rooms”

Doral Golf Resort and Spa

I was here for a conference. The hotel is close to the airport and the surrounding area has convenience stores and restaurants if you have a rental car. Otherwise, you are pretty much contained in this property. The entrance to the hotel is hard to find, but once you find it, all is great! Easy driving in the area on the weekends, not so much during the week. The rooms are comfortable but the noise level from adjoining rooms is very loud. Could hear everything as the connecting doors (connected to each room on either side of me) had openings under the doors. The carpeting in my room was dirty. It was nice to have a balcony, but the buses running people from the conference center made it impossible to leave the doors open due to the fumes and noise. The first room they tried to put me in only had windows @ shoulder height, so very claustrophobic. I had a rental car, so the access from the parking lot to the hotel room was difficult to navigate and ended up walking a couple of blocks though my room was actually overlooking the parking lot. The entrance was on the other side of the building. The air conditioning could not be controlled and the front desk told me to just turn off the air conditioner if it got too cold, which it was. Luckily, it wasn't too hot in Miami during my stay or I would have been turning the air on and off quite often. I took a tumble on some steps in the main building and they nicely gave me some ice bags, but when I asked for two more, they did not deliver them nor did they check on me to make certain I was alright during the night or the next day. Then the fire alarm went off one night at 1:30 a.m. We all dressed and headed outdoors. A group of us wandered around the building but did not see any staff. Some residents went back to their rooms without any clearance from any staff or rescue staff. Eventually heard from someone a drunken guest pulled the alarm so we all went back to our rooms, but without staff to direct us, not certain that was the safest thing to do. Positives: nice bathrooms with enclosed shower and separate tub. The beds were comfortable and the in room safe was complimentary. I did not use the spa or golf course.
