I booked this hotel w/Hotwire which got me a good price and what I thought would be a decent hotel. 1st impression- very basic. The lobby, bar, restaurant, and the pool area just standard for a 3.5/4 star hotel. The pool was cold (not heated) and the whirlpool was absolutely filthy for the 2 days we were there. The room itself had been updated with new bedding and granite countertops in bathroom. Our big problem with the room was when my husband stepped on a piece of glass! His toe was bleeding, so I called the front desk for bandaids. Several of the hotel staff asked if we were sure he stepped on the glass there, in their hotel. Needless to say, that made me very upset. The mgmt. did bring up bandaids, but I had to ask them to do an incident report. I had to explain to them that his toe could get infected (or worse), and they would be responsible for the medical bill. After talking to several mgmt. staff, the incident report was done. Next time, I'll definitely choose another hotel that's close to the airport.

I can't understand people complaining about the Sheraton Miami mart. Did they pay the full rate (150-200 $ per night) and expected too much. March is usually high season @ Miami and it's quite difficult to have a room for less than 150$ per night. We've booked our hotel through Hotwire and we had a really good bargain (+/- 100$ + tax ). We had rooms with a pool view (greater than the "airport" view) during our 2 different stays at the Sheraton, the room were spacious, clean, didn't smell anything (my wife has asthma & didn't have any problem), beds were comfortable. Self parking 7 USD per night (affordable compared to valet parking at SoBe hotels), staff were friendly, lifts worked perfectly (it's a 12-stories hotel, so at "rush" hour, it could take long but we never had to wait more than 1 minute ...perfect for us).
Location: Dolphin expressway is next to the hotel to SoBe could be reached in less than 30 minutes (1,5 $ toll), Dolphin mall (less than 10 minutes). The only minus point is the Sheraton (over-) charge the fridge @ 25 USD/night but drinks from vending machine were reasonably priced (1,25 USD). Definitely a good stay @ the Sheraton Miami mart.

I booked this hotel as a stopover on my way home from an International trip. As it was a Sheraton and as a SPG Gold member I am pretty loyal I had no concerns at all. The shuttle picked us up at the airport and the driver was very nice, professional and efficient. The check in also went smoothly. From there things went downhill.

Our flight was delayed and our arrival at the hotel was quite late. As we hadn't eaten we decided to order room service. There was no menu in the room however. After repeated calls to the front desk, guest service and room service, we finally received a menu from a very unfriendly member of the staff 45 minutes later. The food was extremely bad. The beds were pretty uncomfortable but the room was clean.

In the morning, we checked out and waited for the shuttle to arrive to take us to the airport. It arrived about 10 minutes late and in a vehicle that was way too small for the 10 or so people that were waiting. The driver finally decided to take the larger shuttle that was parked in front of the hotel and ordered my husband quite rudely to put our bags and that of the 6 others that were waiting on to the shuttle. My husband helped him put them on the bus. Upon arriving at the airport, the driver once again told my husband to take his bags out which he happily did. The driver then held out his hand for a tip which he did not receive.

The Sheraton Miami Mart doesnt offer a high level of customer service that I have come to expect from Starwood. I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here for 2 nites post-cruise thinking you can't go wrong with a Sheraton. This Sheraton is privately owned and absolutely does not live up to what is expected from that hotel chain. I would avoid this hotel and we will never stay there again. Here is a summary of what went wrong and made our stay very unpleasant: Beds NOT "Sweet Sleeper Beds". Very saggy, old, uncomfortable. Hairdryer so plugged up with lint sparks were flying out of it when we tried to use it. TV would turn off unexplicably while we were watching it. BUGS!! I had a huge bite on my leg in the morning and we saw as many as 3 big black bugs scurry away in the bathroom when the light came on. they were not cockroaches but we don't know what they were. Bathroom old and in need of upgrading. Glass coffee pot broken. Hotel allowed a huge loud party to take place on main floor until midnite. No way we could sleep with that going on. Made several complaints about it to the front desk but they did not seem to care much. Internet cafe not working. We would not have stayed after the first night if it had not been prepaid with hotwire. Made our complaint to Hotwire when we got home and they downgraded the star rating from 3.5 to 3 and gave us $$ to compensate. (This rat-hole is still should not be a 3 star). What went right: The shuttle was on time, every 30 minutes to and from the airport. We tipped the driver $2 and he gave us a look as if to say "only 2 bucks? you're some cheap". To sum up: never again in this hotel. Miserable experience.
