Clarion Collection Las Palmas

Am a bussines man..and i had to fly to miami asap, i didnt have a reservation anywhere. doing a callaround in the area i found this perfect little hotel..it had a good price not that expensive but no that cheap.. i got there at 9 pm the front desk was absolutely helpfully they even gave a discount.. i had some questions about the area and they perfectly help me out.

In the morning i got stunned when i found out the same front desk takes you to the airport. and thats a full costumer service...come on you dont see that every day.

The breakfast was good but very crowd..they even have weights on the little fitting room and as i saw there is many bussines people staying in there

the only problem is that they are located close to a main street and the traffic is horrible, so you better get up early so you wont catch rush hour.

The driver alberto.told me its a two star ..but hey...with all this type of service it should be at least 4 star

Upon my arrival the front desk clerk looked as if they forgot to reserve my room. I had reserved a suite through Expedia, but was given a room with two beds. That was O.K since I was accompanied by my collegue at last notice. After we had gotten settled I went down to ask for directions towards Dolphin Stadium and was given a snobby, short reply and a finger pointing to a map of the city, as if I was a local. So customer service wise I was already fairly peeved at the nonchalant you stupid tourist attitude.

Later in the week I again asked the front desk clerk if they had any recommendations for a good local restaurant. They responded with yeah there is a few chain restaurants like Jonny Carinos, Chili's, and Denny's. I should have expected that answer since every other question I asked is answered with the lack of thoroughness. But I came to expect that with any Choice Hotels, since I was a prior employee and was discharged because of my over exceeding their expectations of what management considers great customer service. So to have these clowns giving me aid to expose me to some nuances of the area was totally humbling. How can not know what the nuances of Miami is. I should have watch CSI or Miami Vice to get familiar with the area.

Then here the last night of stay of a 4 day business trip I again asked the front desk clerk, who was to busy checking his yahoo email account , to ask him if he would have a list the list of restaurants that I obtained earlier. He proceeds that he doesn't know and everything is closed so there is no way that I can eat. I responded I received this list from one of your collegues in the front desk while you were standing there. I repeat myself that can I get another copy, he proceeds to look through a drawer of menus and tries to hand me that. I look at him and said the samething once again, "A restaurant list" he becomes irritated ans so do I and then the clown refers to himself as not being stupid and slams the drawer. But yet again I should have known, the night before I couldn't reach them when I called for a wake-up call, because I caught him again on the internet. Without him attempting to get up he asked if I needed help. What a way to represent the company and the establishment.

To end this little tyraid of little nuances of this horribly managed hotel. I would like to say, " I have no qualms with the staff except that they need to get new management techniques and help your customers we help keep you paid! Last and not least, I WILL NEVER STAY AT A CHOICE RUN HOTEL!!!

The hotel staff was incompetent. Upon arrival we requested a wake-up call and a 5:00 am shuttle to the airport. We didn't receive the wake-up call and the shuttle service was 15 minutes late in picking us up. The front desk make a few calls to make this happen. They advertise a 24-hour shuttle service.

On our return to Miami, we called for shuttle service. The front-desk staff was uncaring. We called three times and the third time, no one would answer the phone. We waited 45 minutes for the shuttle to arrive at the airport and then the driver tossed us a paper into the backseat letting us know we would be staying at another hotel.

We booked our stay in this hotel 3 months in advance. I also notified the front-desk clerk that we would be arriving late on our return flight. He told me there would be no problem.

“An OK Place”

Clarion Collection Las Palmas

3 of 5 stars

This Clarion was clean and the rooms were modern. But they were very, very small. Our room (which they said was the only one available when we arrived) was on the first floor right near the breakfast so it was a bit loud in the hallways. We found the room's layout awkward. The only sink was directly in the path of the door. If you were washing up and some one opened the door, you got smacked with the door. This also made washing up a bit less of a private experience. We were traveling with quite a bit of luggage and room could barely hold us and the luggage. The pool was nice and it was heated. They have a nice selection of sodas and small snacks that you can buy at the front desk. The breakfast was ok but very crowded and we could barely find a place to sit. Our second morning at this hotel we went out to eat instead of fighting the crowd at the breakfast. All in all, the hotel was ok. It was clean and modern but based on the price, I doubt that I would stay here again.

I needed a place to stay for an extra night before a cruise so was really only looking for something clean with a comfortable bed and a cheap rate. I made a great choice when I booked this hotel.

Because it's a smaller hotel, there aren't buses/cars constantly cruising the arrival area of the airport and you actually have to call the hotel upon arrival to get the complimentary shuttle. Seems like a fine system to me - I was picked up from the airport within 15 minutes of calling for a ride. When I arrived at the hotel there was a very friendly staff waiting to check me in. My room was large, bright and very clean. The view was of a somewhat busy stretch of road, but did also have some beautiful trees - which was the only thing I could see while lying in bed.

The one negative thing I have to say about the hotel is about the 'fitness equipment'. It actually consists of a treadmill, an elliptical machine and a reclining stationary bike in a tiny room. Not really much of a fitness area but it was well air-conditioned with water and towels available.

The complimentary breakfast the next morning was delicious and generous - everything from toast to pancakes to eggs.

I stayed at the Miami Airport Hilton the next night and though the Hilton is swankier, I liked my room and the service at the Las Palmas much more. And, the Hilton was almost double the price.

Overall, it was a great experience. Convenient location (less than 10 minute cab ride to the Dolphin Mall for all the outlet-shoppers and less than 15 minutes from the airport), fabulous service and a free breakfast. If I'm back in Miami, I'll stay here again!
