This hotel is AWFUL! Booked through hotwire, which told me that I was getting a great deal. I saved 5 dollars. They have the nerve to say it is in the historic district. It is about a 20 minute walk, and it stinks! It is VERY FAR!

Another couple traveling with us stayd there as well. Both rooms were Filthy. Mold in the bathroom, shower not working, stains on the floor, cobwebs in the corner of the ceilings. It was Gross! Did I mention mold in the shower? UGH

Outside the hotel was not much better. The jacuzzi was half filled with water and the pool size was tiny. It was a terrible stay. Only good thing was we were able to get out of staying there the second night. I would recommend staying at a bed and breakfast in the real heart of the historic district because this sure wasn't. It has potential if A) It really was in the historic district and b) They actually cleaned their rooms.

Recently when I was in St. Augustine, I had the opportunity to stay at this Holiday Inn. I picked it due to the reputation it had for the company name, but I never expected to see one like this. The staff was amazing. I attended a function in the meeting room there and had great food, never felt as if I was imposing on them. At any moment they were willing to do anything you asked of them. The property was newer, but has many useful amenities. The pool is small but it does the job. They also have a work-out center that could accomodate your needs for the most part. I enjoyed the enviroment even more when I saw how much they encouraged being with your kids or family. They offer many different activities around, such as passes to attaractions, recommendations on restuarants and bars, as well as just relaxing. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get away and not feel like you HAVE to do something.

Holiday Inns tend to be very hit or miss. Some are new facilities and some are renovated older poperties. This one falls in the newer catagory. The rooms are quite nice and there is a small pool on the one side.
Upon check in they gave me a rate that was 12.50 more per night than what I was quoted. I'm glad I had my confirmation with me because they tried to tell me that the check in rate was "the lowest they have seen in quite a while". Once I showed them my confirmatio they adjusted the rate.
We booked a king room and asked for one away from the elevator. We were given a king handicap room that had an adjoing door to the room next to it. We did not think would be a problem until about 11pm when 2 very loud ladies checked in. We asked the night manager if he could do anything. He said we could not move until the morning, even though they were not sold out and had other rooms available. We moved at 9am the next morning. He did however ask the ladies to quiet down, which they did not do, but that is not the hotels fault.
The breakfast buffet is very disjointed with the toaster at one end of the room and the butter and spreads at the other. Other items were equally placed in confusing locations. They would greatly benefit from someone with organizational skills in the restaurant. There are some great places downtown that serve a better breakfast.
They do have wireless internet and a computer and printer in the lobby for guests use. Great for printing off directions or pre flight boarding passes.
Last but not least, saying that this hotel is in the historic district is a bit of a stretch. It is quite a walk to downtown, but if you are up for it then go for it. Otherwise drive into town and park at one of the many lots or the convenient parking garage.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Just coming from an Embassy Suites in Charleston, SC I was expecting pretty much the same since this was supposed to be a suite. In Charleston, we had a full blown free breakfast each morning, 2 separate rooms within our suite, the bedroom was closed off separately from the living/dining area. This was not the case at this Holiday Inn and Hotel Suites. No breakfast whatsoever, unless we went to the restaurant and paid for it ourselves. The tiny kitchen area was nothing but right inside the door in the hallway, not closed off from the sleeping area. The housekeeping staff doesn't vacuum each day either like I thought they were supposed to. The Denny's restaurant on the other side of the parking lot is absolutely filthy too. Don't eat there. All in all it was an O.K. stay, but I hoped would be closer in walking distance to the historical attractions.
