“Good for families, bad for me.”

When my usual discount standbys (The Wyndham and Hyatt) were unavailable, I picked up the Country Inn and Suites on Hotwire as a last resort.

The hotel is definitely further out than other airport hotels I've stayed at, and the shuttle is not that frequent at only once an hour. The little interaction I had with the staff was positive, as they were able to accommodate an early check-in for me. The decor was standard (read: boring), but everything was clean and internet access was free. My two biggest complaints were the uncomfortable beds (I tried both) and the freaking loud doors that were slamming all night.

There's absolutely nothing nearby the hotel, but I was probably the only one without a car. I ended up walking a little more than half a mile to a Dominick's grocery store, since there weren't any other food options besides delivery. There was free breakfast in the morning that had stuff like sausage patties, eggs, and waffles, but there was also cereal and yogurt so I would think everyone would be happy.

I definitely wouldn't stay here again (mostly because of the location and the fact that my back hurt the next day), but I recognize that I'm not really their demographic anyway.

“If you like noise you will love this”

This is my third stay at this hotel (I don't make the reservations). The piping in this hotel is extraordinarily noisey. Just to be sure it wasn't me I asked several other guests who confirmed their irritation at listening to water running through pipes while their neighbors showered. It was loud enough to wake one asleep. You know when guests are moving about as the slam of their doors is readily heard inside your room.

Outside noise depends on the flight pattern of nearby OHare airport. One is right under the flight pattern at times.

The bathroom was fine the bedding not so fine. Motel 6 level thin pillows and dated bed coverings. The room was clean. The "continental" breakfast was below average. Not much hot stuff. Like so many Midwestern offerings plenty of fat laden items but few healthy options.

No place within easy walking distance for meals. One can hike along the graveyard grass across the street to a shopping center about half a mile away. Part of the trip actually includes a side walk. For dining in there is the usual pizza delivery, etc.

Golf driving range across parking lot is not obtrusive. The in the wall air conditioning actually works as it should. Towels are fluffy but with a disturbingly high polymer content making them feel slippery and not having normal absorbency. Room lighting is good. Shuttle dirver is personable and user friendly. Front desk person is competent but inexperienced. Internet access is available in the lobby but not offered in one's room dial-up excepted.

The best thing going for this place is the nearby legendary atrocity called a Holiday Inn. One easily gets the impression this operation is run mainly as an investment and not as a hotel. The guests are only an incidental means to an end. The end being maximum return on investment.

“Good value, comfy, Park n Fly - but if you want quiet...”

Country Inn & Suites O'Hare South

We stayed at this hotel prior to departing from nearby O'Hare Int'l Airport.

Our family of four felt the hotel was good value, the breakfast was excellent (boiled eggs, gravy and biscuits, toast, pastries, make your own waffles, cereal, juice, whole fresh fruit, fancy coffee, PB, yogurt, etc.) and the shuttle service was very convenient (hourly - make your reservation the night before).

The rooms were spacious and serviceable - no signs of wear or tear. Lukewarm water for the shower was the best I got in the evening. Morning showers were full and hot.

If you want a good night's sleep, beware that the planes fly overhead and traffic noise (from the road) on one complete side of the building was disruptive.

Our advice: ask for a room on the side of the building where the office is located! [From the lobby/small pool, you will ideally turn right to get a quiet room.] Cross your fingers you do not get a room directly across from the elevator - it beeps at each floor and would drive any sane person crazy.

“We'd Stay There Again”

We spent two nights at this hotel. It is not exactly convenient to the highway, but it is close to downtown without the expense of staying downtown. Clean and quiet. Pool was warm enough in the dead of winter to be used, which was a plus for the kids. Staff was polite and efficient. When travelling with two kids, having two queen sized beds is ideal. Breakfast was good. We will be staying there again in a few months!

“Great place to stay”

Country Inn & Suites O'Hare South

I travel to this area frequently on business and now stay here exclusively. This property is only about 3 months old, so everything is obviously brand new and in great condition. I used to stay at the Extended Stay in Elmhurst, but it is rapidly beginning to show its age.
The country Inn has a nice indoor pool/hot tub area and a small selection of cardio equipment in the gym area. The breakfast is above average and the staff is friendly and competent.
