The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas

Jun 14, 2008

We stayed at the Ritz June 1st to June 8th. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary. We have never experienced such incredible service before. We have stayed in really nice hotels before with club level but the service at the Ritz made it very hard to leave. Our club level room wasn't ready when we arrived so they escorted us to the club lounge where I enjoyed a glass of wine and my husband a beer. About an hour later or few glasses of wine we were shown to our room. A beautiful exexcutive suite with a balcony that overlooked Lake Las Vegas. It's was better than the pictures. Very beautiful lake but there is still some development to be done. About 10 mins after we arrived they delivered a card wishing us a happy anniversary. Although we did have a few concerns with stains on the sofa and the filtre in the air conditioner was in need of change, they were taken care of within the first hour we arrived at our room. The four presentations in the club lounge were very delicious. Mostly cold dishes but of high quality that included smoked salmon, shrimp, cheeses, olives, vegies, small sandwiches and soup at lunch. The last presentation of the day was strawberries with chocolate or vanilla or caramel sauce.(wow) and small shot glasses with with chocolate mousse.(that was heaven). They always had giant cookies in jars you could have anytime. Wine and champagne from lunch on and other drinks after 5pm.(like shots of Tequila) The staff in the club lounge were wonderful. They were always happy and very friendly with us. When I think of our trip to the Ritz, they come to my mind first. One of the staff(I wish I could remember her name) made us a lunch for our trip home. Our flight ended up being cancelled and we were delayed and had to stay a night in Vegas. She put sooo many cookies in the lunch, we were eating cookies on the plane on the way home. The service you get when you book a room on the club level is amazing. Housekeeping was great and always did a good job. Two nights of turn down service was missed but that wasn't a problem for us. The pool was wonderful and open 24 hours. We did use the spa which was great. The attendants were always friendly. The workout area has top of the line equipment. Water infused with lemon, strawberries and oranges are in the spa are as well as organic teas. I did have a spa treatment. It was the Mesquite Tree Cocoon body treatment. Although very nice and relaxing it was very expensive. The spa has bikes to use for free for an hour at a time which we used. The village next door is small but fun to walk through. They had live entertainment on the weekend. The casino was nice if you enjoy a more quiet experience. The grounds at the hotel are very beautiful and well cared for. We rented a car so going to Vegas was a 30 minuite trip. If you're like us and enjoy the experience of Vegas but also need to leave it behind to relax then this is a perfect combination. I will definately go back to the Ritz in Lake Las Vegas but would go back next week if I could.

I truly expected more from the Ritz. When I arrived, the bell men were asking me how to do their job, not just doing it as they should. Check in was smooth, but impersonal. That is when the problems arised. I was taken to a room with two beds (guaranteed king) but this wasn't too much of a problem. Stepped outside to the Village nearby (nice, but still being constructed) and came back to my room. The key didn't work so I went down and got a new key. I came back and the room key didn't work again. I then went down a third time and they told me that I was going to the wrong room number (even though I knew this was incorrect). I did go to the room they told me to go to, which had a king bed, but was not the room I was originally assigned to. They moved my stuff but said nothing else to me...no real remedy. The pool was nice, but the "beach" was a joke. Resort very far from strip (or anything for that matter). The area is on the rise, but not constructed fully. Maybe come in a few years. Reminds me of Calabasas a few years ago. Bed was nice and valets were nice (though slow) and parking fee was absurd (this is Vegas after all where Valet is free everywhere). If you are looking for a Ritz experience (as I have had at Hotel Arts in Barcelona and at Tyson's Corner) then you will be VERY disappointed. Stay at the Belagio where EVERYTHING is far superior.

“Almost all good”

The service and the food were excellent.
The adjoining 'village' isn't much.
Surprisingly, there's no tennis on site.

“A terrific Ritz Carlton”

Stayed at the Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas from 5/26-5/29, in a regular club level room. The hotel is everything a Ritz exemplifies. Our room was immaculate. The bed was comfortable; the crisp white sheets were of the highest quality. Staff could not have been more polite yet friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts that were included in our plan.
The presentations in the club lounge also were delicious. One cocktail hour they served, among other offerings, large shrimp and crab claws, that obviously were not just frozen and thawed, but rather cooked perfectly in their kitchens.Excellent champagne was poured freely.
The grounds are beautifully planted and maintained. Fresh flowers throughout the hotel perfumed the air and were beautifully arranged. The spa was lovely if quite quite pricey.
The management and staff of this Ritz Carlton have not just met, but exceeded the high standards of this brand. It is definitely the top choice away from the strip.

“Very Nice Hotel”

Barb and Dennis Loyer stayed at the Ritz Carlton , Las Vegas for a 5 day vacation. We didn't want the fast paced action of the LV strip area but liked the desert location for a destination. Air fare to LV is a bargain so the Ritz fit perfectly into our plan.
Good: the service is exceptional, the hotel is luxurious and beautiful. Pool is first class. A tiny village of shops and restaurants are within walking distance but they are a bit expensive also ( $5.00 icream cone but we did have a good , reasonably priced pizza one night ). Plenty of restaurants within a 10 mile driving radius.
Bad (Not so bad): the hotel restaurant is very expensive (even by LV standards: $7.00 coffee but go to Starbucks) ). The hotel is located on a man- made lake but the water in that lake is "grey water" (ie: partially treated and recycled water). You would never go swimming in this water but it adds to the beauty of the place (if you are not too close).

The Red Rock Canyon (west of the city) is a must see. There is a 13 mile scenic tour and many walking trails (take your camera and lots of water on the trail) . We went there twice during our 5 day stay.

The city of Las Vegas didn't impress me at all. It was crowded, loud and a bit over the top. If you are looking for a lot of strip action, stay on the strip but if you are looking for a more relaxed location, the Ritz may answer your needs.
