This was a fine place to stay to get the whole Vegas experience. The hotel is older, so it isn't as "pretty" as the rest, but is still nice. Food and service were good. Casino was nothing spectacular. I would certainly stay again as it is one of the lower priced hotels, but would prefer a hotel in the middle of the strip rather than at the end!

“Never Stay Here!!!”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

I will never stay at this hotel ever again. The staff at the front desk was VERY rude. We were told we could check in at a certain time by one employee but were yelled at by another employee when we came back at the time we were told. The pool with a swimup bar and blackjack was heavily advertised online and when we booked the rooms they never told us it was going to be closed the days we were there. We were told we were supposed to know to ask if the pool was going to be open when we booked the room. They justified not telling us the pool was going to be closed by saying they had another pool and 2 hot tubs open (the open pool was basically a kiddie pool). We ended up having to go to the Excalibur pool to swim. The elevators were out of order. The hallway by our room and the room itself smelled awful. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else!

“Pools under repair”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

Mar 21, 2008

If you are staying at this hotel because of the beautiful pictures of the pools , keep in mind only the small pool is open . The large pool and it does connect to the indoor pool are under repair. Also our room was not cleaned the last two days of our stay . We did have a goood price for our room but it came with a price. I would stay there again if the pools were open . Overall , not too bad , but I wish we knew about the pools .

“$7 daily "resort fee"”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

Be aware of the $7 per day per room "resort fee". This is charged even though it gives you basically nothing during the non-summer season. The hotel even has service charges for shows at their own hotel.
I stayed in the Paradise Tower and the room was acceptable.
The location is really good.
For the buffet spend the extra $5-$10 at a better hotel. It's well worth it. Don't bother with the buffet at Paris, there's always a lineup.
Other hotels have free airport shuttles, the Tropicana doesn't. Cab from/to the airport is $10. Don't tell the cab driver it's your first time in Vegas otherwise you will get the $20 ride. -)
Grand Canyon-South Rim bus tour you can find for $100, just shop around(advertised for $150).
Hoover Dam bus tour is around $50.
If you're from Canada and into sports check out a UNLV college game.
Bring comfortable shoes as you might be walking a lot.
The Deuce bus for $5 for 24 hours is a bargain with good service.

“Needs Improvement”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

Room was not to our satisfaction. The sofa bed and seats were stained and dingy. The bedspread and blanket had different pieces of hair stuck all over them. The bathroom floor was spotted with residue and had hair on it. The grout in the shower had little black spots and the paint was peeling off the wall next to the light switch. I had to use my cell phone to call the front desk because our room phone wasn't working properly. Then we received a long distance fee upon checking out. The hotel fee in addition to our room fee was suppossed to be 6.99 but was actually 7.63. The hotel grounds were under construction and there was a lot of street noise. The windows were so filthy that we couldn't even enjoy the view of the strip. I tried getting a new room but the staff told me that there wasn't anything available that evening. I had to share a king bed that was really two beds pushed together.
