We were moving from Las vegas to North Carolina when we found ourself stuck on the side of the highway with 2 kids,a moving truck ,my truck towing my husbands car and a dog. I could see the hotel from where we were so I called them. Mind you it was 1:30am on a Friday morning.I called and was suprised that they had a room available . I work in the hotel industry and I know the policy and proceedures and typical room rate. Remember I was just moving from Vegas after 10 years.

When we got to the hotel I found it a bit dark and dated but it was better than all the glitz and glamour that I was accoustomed to seeing. I was so happy to get a room and the rate was not bad. We paid $79 plus tax and a $5refundable key deposit per night. We stayed for 2 nights.

The room we had was a dog room and it was bigger than most hotel rooms I had ever delt with. The carpet smelt like it was just shampooed, the linens were clean and the overall condition of the room was light and airy. We had a sliding glass door and balcony over looking the river which was great. My husband was able to get my truck fixed on the Arizona side and the taxi drivers were especially courteous. We were able to go down to the casino and get our morning coffee at Cinna-Bon, and the buffett was enjoyable. To this day when we talk about a great moving adventure across the united states we always say that we liked staying at the Riverside Resort and we should have done it alot sooner.

My wife and I decided to have a quick getaway so we took advantage of a package deal advertised in the Portland,Oregon Oregonian newspaper. The next day we received an even better offer in the mail. We called the resort and they cheerfully credited the difference between what we already paid and their better offer. Great start.!
We flew into Bullhead city and were efficiently transported in busses to the Riverside with our baggage being delivered to our room within a reasonable time. Staff were friendly as they always have been on previous visits.
Yes the place is run down and shabby but what the heck, the price was right: $279 each for our flight from Portland and four nights at the hotel. All in all we enjoyed our getaway except for the incredibly bad smell that seemed to emanate from the airconditioner every time we entered the room. The enegy saving device was tied into the airconditioner as well as the lights so it took a bit of fiddlin to get the thermostat set higher so the AC didn't come on. Luckily the weather wasn't all that hot so we put up with the stuffy, stinky room. The entire floor including the hallways were supossedly non-smoking but it smelled like the smoke in the smoking rooms was being exhausted directly into the non-smoking rooms whenever the airconditioner was switched on. On our third night a new filter of some sort was put outside each room and after it was installed the smell improved a little. We still kinda like the place but probably wouldn't stay there again unless we were sure that or room would smell better than an ashtray!
One more good thing. We really enjoyed the restaurant ,the Casa Serrano across the street by the parking structure. The place is bright and cheerful, the staff is friendly and the food is outstanding for the prices which range from about 4 dollars to 8 dollars.

“"Poor man's Vegas" hotel adequate for price”

Well, here's to the saying, "You get what you pay for".

Downside of hotel: The hotel room stunk of old smoke, there were burn holes in carpet and chairs. As a notice left in our room indicated, due to the extremely wet winter, they were having trouble with moths and other critters. Very true. Towels paper thin and rough. We set the air conditioner at 60 and left it on non-stop, and never got chilly. Not too much of a problem because it wasn't too hot, but this could be an issue in the heat of summer. Did not see one slot machine hit a big win in four days (we were warned of this on day # 1 so went elsewhere for slots).

Upside of hotel: We had a room in the south tower on the 4th floor with a balcony and river view, which was really nice. (North tower appeared to have balconies/river views also.) Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant. Two pools, south tower one a little nicer but sun goes away around 2:00. A quick, straight walk thru the casino to north tower elevator and north tower pool. Restaurant was good. Lots of other options for food in the building. Free line dancing lessons Thursday nights, bowling alley. Although we didn't make it, apparently the Losers' Lounge Night Club is quite the happening place.

This hotel is NOT for the "particular", as there is a lot you really have to overlook. But the rooms are cheap enough! And the room was fairly large. And to tell you the truth, I didn't see any other hotels that looked better. They all looked like they had seen better days. That's probably why all the rooms are so cheap and the place is called the Pool Man's Vegas. The only one I didn't check out was Harrah's
(it's the furthest down the strip and would be quite a little hike to get to the center of the strip).

I enjoyed being on the river and the riverwalk was very relaxing. You can find Panda, Starbucks, McD;s. Dryer's ice cream, Coco's
mexican food....all within a ten minute walk.

Wouldn't recommend Laughlin in general for a "luxury" vacation.

“Didn't care for this resort/casino”

My wife and I spend a weekend on April 18-20 at the Don Laughlin Riverside Casino. What a mistake! We picked this place because of travel book recommended it. Although our room was clean, it was HOT!! The air, I think, was working, but the fan was not very powerful, plus to save elect. there was a special device in the room that would turn off the electricity when you left the room, when we came back for the evening, our room was hot and stuffy. We had a nice view of the river, but the windows were dirty/spotyTook until the next morning to cool down - didn't sleep good! Then, the casino was old and dingy. Not much space beween machines - felt cramped and VERY smoky. They did have a not smoking section, but it was small and didn't have much of a choice of machines. Never saw a cocktail person -we brought in our own drinks. We played in the next casino over, for it was more open, better air, and a better variety of machines. We would not go here again

    • Disliked — hot and stuffy room, and the casino needed upgrade badly - dark, smoky, tight
