“Good time at the Fitz”

After reading some bad reviews lately at the Fitz, we were a little worried about staying there Feb. 4-5-6. They sent a van to pick us up at the airport(which is a new perk) and we had a good time there. We had no problem with heat or water and had a couple great meals at Limericks. Everyone was very helpfull but there wasnt a lot of people there. They are starting to do new elevators and improve the rooms beginning at the top. Hopefully, a new and improved Fitz will be there soon. We had fun. Suzie Slots

“No fun to be found at the Fitz anymore”

I have stayed often at the Fitz (the free and/or discounted room offers come often with relatively little play required), but I think my most recent visit will be my last. The rooms are clean, but they're dull and outdated -- especially the tiny TVs that only get about six channels and the terrible shower pressure. The casino dealers are as friendly as ever, but the rules are definitely in the house's favor. The slots are much tighter than they were in the past. The food hasn't changed -- it's still as lousy as it's ever been. The Lucky Forest gimmicks and trinkets are gone. Bottom line: The Fitz is no fun anymore (which might explain why the casino seemed like a ghost town even on a holiday weekend).

“Never Again”

I booked two nights at Fitzgeralds because of the proximity to the Pioneer Events Center. What a disappointment. My husband and I expected a more '60's decor, but this place is very neglected. The room was clean and the personell were friendly, but that couldn't detract from the lack of amenities or a cold shower. With airline security being what it is we had left shampoo, rinse and hand lotion at home expecting those small sample sizes at the hotel. When we got to our room I had to call and ask if the hotel provided shampoo because none was left in our room. Evidently that is all they provide, including hot water. What would pass for a leaking faucet was actually our shower. We couldn't get much more than a trickle and it was luke-warm at best. The food tasted like they had scavenged the grocery freezers for t.v. dinners, and the food was not hot.

    • Liked — The room was clean, although sparse.
    • Disliked — No hot water! The shower was terrible, no hot water, and no water pressure.

“Unfair business practice”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

On December 21 at the end of day I made reservation over the web using Fitzgeralds hotel website, after called to hotel for conformation and got conformation number.
On December 22 checked-in with my family around 6PM smoothly. Room was cold, turn heat on – no heat. Turn hot water on – no hot water. Went back to the front desk and see other disappointed guests who are without heat and hot water since December 21. Hotel was without heat and hot water since December 21. Spoke with few people at front desk including manager on Duty David Sharp, and Executive Host Mark Persson and asked why they taking reservation, checking-in guests without letting people know that boiler out of service and hotel does not have hot water and heat, never got any answer why they cheat guests. Asked manager on Duty David Sharp to transfer us to any comparable close-by hotel, he just offered 15 miles away in Spark City low end motel; anything else required extra pay from us. I strongly believe hotel violated “Fair business practice” not letting guests know about the problem just playing unfair game
Any reputable hotel in that case would move guests at own expense.
BTW, it is still a violation of health code to check-in people while temperature outside below freezing without having heat in room

“Still a great value, but there are some changes I don't love”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

We stay at the Fitz a lot in Reno, they always comp a room or give it to you for dirt cheap. Just join their slot club. And that is still great. There is new ownership though. They changed the Limerick's meal comp and it is no longer valid on Saturdays. Well, they could have told us this when we made the reservation. It was a good meal, but I would have loved to eaten it much more cheaply on Friday or Sunday.

Overall, its still a great deal they give you there. Molly's Garden Restaurant was still good and the staff overall was pretty friendly. I stay away from the buffet, unless I use the "o'lucky bucks." (Its fine if its free, but not worth paying for it.) I still recommend this place, its just easier to focus on the bad rather than the good.
