“Should be called the Bronze Legacy”

Stayed here for a conference May 2-10, 2008 The conference organizer were very exicited about the hotel initially as it was suppose to be a step up from the usual hotel used for this annual conference. That all changed very quickly when the hotel doubled booked our conference with another one. All the meeting rooms were taken and as a result the venues for our conference were moved to a bulding across the street at the last minute. This caused a deal of confusion for all the conference attendees. In addition to this the hotel lost a large shipment of goods that the conference organizers need the first few days of the conference. The hotel itself had a very strange policy of no saturday check ins, forcing my company to book us in for an extra day before the conference started.

The hotel itself was nice enough, lots of usual ammenties associated with these "vegas" like hotels, there was a work out room which was a little lacking in equipment, pool was closed as was the hot tub, then on top of that they charged an additional $8/visit to use it. There was also a $2.50/day resort fee that was not disclosed at the time of booking. I had no hot water for the first four days of my stay and after I called and complained about the lack of hot water they fixed the problem but you had to run the water for approx. 10 minutes before it got even remotely close to hot (talk about a huge waste of water).

There was a security guard that had to check you for a room key before they allowed you to get on the elevator, which was great but it got a little old after a few days, especially if you had an armful of bags and gear and you had to stop, put everything down to dig out your room key, every time before they would let you pass. I found this amusing, espcially when they had no problems what so ever about allowing less desirable patrons into their "high end" steak house restraunt, wearing blatant "gang" colors and acting like loud obnoxous thugs.

The staff at the front desk that checked us in had the personality of a brick, the ice machine on my floor never worked, had to go to another floor for ice every day, the bed was hard as a rock, I've had better pillows in a Super 8 motel, the parking garage was stupidly inadequate fort a hotel of that size and there appeared to be dried ketchup on the walls of my room.

All in all the hotel was a huge let down, we got a conference rate but if you are planning on paying the full rate, spend your money somewhere else, the "Silver" Legacy is at best a "Bronze"

This is perhaps our sixth stay at Legacy and I marvel at some of the negative Trip Advisor stories. We've never experienced anything but friendly, thoughtful, smiling courtesy. It was a special occasion so we booked a corner spa suite: the first one we were given was severely cigarette-y and we asked for a second which was better but not perfect -- the bathroom vent was connected to a smoking room, perhaps? Whatever: we know Nevada's a smoking state and we put up with it. The suite was lovely, looking north and east, and good housekeeping elves made sure we had enough towels for a football team. The bed was hard, but most hotel beds seem to be. It was a great overall experience and we'll go back.
We did want to echo the report of another TA member about the annoyingly ubiquitous time share folks in the lobby. We finally learned to walk on the other side of the area.
Finally, a tip on how to deal with the frequent static electricity from the carpets: touch the elevator button with anything but your fingertip first: your elbow, your knuckles. Much less painful and bothersome.

“Casino hotel and not much more”

Silver Legacy Resort and Casino

3 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada
Apr 30, 2008

Stayed at the Silver Legacy for 8 days in April 2008. Hotel staff were always pleasant and helpful. The hotel is an in-your-face casino so you are never far from gambling.

Tried most of the restaurants except for the high end ($50/steak) restaurants and found the food to be OK at best. Service in restaurants varied from almost indifferent to very good. We often ate outside the hotel because most restaurants had long queues at meal time.

The deluxe room was average at best. Hard bed, no desk, no lounge chair or couch. Wireless Internet was available, signal was strong, but cost $50/week. Room rates varied from $109 on the weekend to $60 during the week. Parking is free and plentiful.

For us, the casinos completely lacked any sense of excitement. My wife and I watched gamblers feed one-armed bandits for extended periods of time and never saw anyone win. We are not gamblers so we did not try our 'luck'.

There is a booth near the elevators where sales people try to interest you in 'unique vacation ownership opportunities' (aka timeshares). Other than being pestered by t these people, I had little to no interaction with hotel staff. It was so bad that I felt like getting a sign printed that said 'I don't want a timeshare'.

I stayed for less then 12 hours in the hotel so don't have much to offer as a complete review. Staff was great to deal with. Location is fantastic with easy access via 2nd floor bridges to several other casinos.

The only complaint was the sheets and towels in my room seemed to bit worn. The rest of the hotel seemed in great shape.

Had a great meal at the steak and seafood restaurant in the hotel. The rib steak was one of the best in my life (I used to live in Calgary so this means a lot). The service level was top notch. After finishing my free salad I was waiting for maybe 2 minutes before the waiter came to take my plate and apologize that my steak was not ready yet. 5 minutes later the manager came to apologize and offered me a free drink. A few minutes later my steak arrived. I don't consider waiting for your main meal for 10 minutes a problem.
