This was one of seven lodges we stayed at. I was a bit disappointed, in that our purpose in staying at these lodges was to see game. Camp Okavango however does not do game drives. It has a walk across an island, a relaxing poling across a shallow river bed, and fishing. Other than that, you are not going to see much game.
The lodge was well run, and the rooms were comfortable, and of a good standard. Because lions and other game can walk through the camp, one has to be accompanied when walking between the main buildings and the rooms after dark.
I was also last in the Okavango some 30 years ago, and remembered towering trees covered with fish eagles. We did not see any landscape like that at Camp O, other than a short section of a riverbank seen while fishing. The fishing was fun, even though we had to return most of the fish as they were undersize.
We were transported between Camp Moremi and Camp Okavango by boat. Both my partner and I rather felt we had seen enough of reeds after this three hour trip.
