Visiting SUNY/Binghamton for a tour and needed a reasonable place to stay. Other hotels were booked. The photos on the website looked great. I love historical buildings so this hotel certainly fit the bill. Rate was just $89 but I used my points so it was free! Loved the renovations, however, the first floor and mezzanine areas are under-utilized. Room was clean. Not a large room, beds were low to the ground and the comforters are dated, but not too bad either. Temperature was warm and the fan unit was very old and barely worked. Needs replacement. Bathroom average size. Nice to have a fridge and microwave without cost though we didn't need them. Hotel was eerily quiet. Walked around out back and was told by a gentleman that it was NOT safe for women to be in that area at night. ??? Walking around the neighborhood was strange...NOBODY in sight. If you like burgers and beer, the neighborhood is okay. Otherwise, there are no restaurants open at night. Binghamton is a great city if you are into architecture. Would recommend this for a one night stay but not much else. Has alot of potential though.
