This small hotel is right in the middle of Ia. If you get a room overlooking the pool it will also be nice and quiet. Breakfasts are great. Hotel is a little hard to find, (they have a desk in the tourist info center on the main road, but hotel is a couple of blocks away.) but the hotel is worth looking for. Pool is lovely and refeshing. Highly recommended.

We've just returned from a week at the Museum hotel and I have to say its been superb.Cant believe what some of the reviews have said - you should read their visitors book. In fact this is the first review I've ever written, but thought it more than deserved it. Everything from the service, facilitites, rooms & decor to the Spa was spot on. I also thinks its exceptionally good value for money. Its location, set right in the center of Oia village , close to galleries, bars, restaurants is just stunning.Reception -multi lingual, polite, helpful, efficient staff.
Rooms - large, clean, comfortable, excellent bathroom facilites Our view to the pool was superb. Everything in the hotel is geared towards relaxation, although they do not allow children in he hotel and so I guess this could be a bit of a nuisance to some.Although we didn't think it a problem,we ve left our children with my parents. I cant recommend this hotel highly enough for most people looking for a relaxing vacation.Spa facilities were excellent, and the treatments of a high quality ,and were not that expensive (especially when compared with typical European spas and the therapists were very highly trained. ), and I would go back for the spa alone.
The atmosphere was very relaxing – even though the hotel was full the entire time we were there it never felt that busy, and the pool always seemed really quiet, with nice sun loungers always available. We did have an issue with our air conditioning which was never resolved in the 5 days we were there – but this didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for the place. The professionalism and quality of staff was second to none and essentially that's what makes or breaks a place.
The best compliment that we can give the Museum hotel spa team is that we are going back for sure. Thank You

“Dirty, terrible service, expensive”

I understand that different people have different standards, so I’ll put it this way: Staying in this hotel worth about 50 euros per night not 160 euros that they charge.

We had to stay for a night because we arrived late in Oia, next morning we left. We didn’t even carry our luggage to the room.

1. Upon arrival there was no greeting, the reception lady was in front of a computer and she waved to me to wait until an English spoken lady would come. She wouldn’t speak Greek either by the way…

2. The pool was dirty.

3. The matrices on the chairs by the pool where dirty.

4. The reception area was claustrophobic, actually it is a corridor not an area. In order to go to the reception you have to pass through the internet café area of the hotel. The 160 euros per night does not offer free internet, you have to put 1-2 euros in a slot machine, get a ticket and surf the net this way… the slot machine for the tickets are also at the reception corridor.

5. First impression of the room: evidently dirty linen, please see my pictures if in doubt.

6. Fungus in the gaps between the tiles in the shower. - see my pictures if in doubt

7. No new toiletries, no “sterilized” tape on the toilet. Actually from what were the toiletries (see pictures) we figured out that the hotel simply does not include toiletries in the 160 euro per night price…

8. Poor view: Comparing to other hotels in Santorini, this one simply has no view…. See picture of roof with a solar boiler from my room.

9. Noisy: There is a bar in front of the hotel, so if you sleep before 1 am… bad luck

“Wonderful stay at Museum Hotel”

I love this hotel!! I was fortunate enough to score one of the two rooms on the top floor, both of which have small private balconies with stairs that lead to a roof deck with nice views of Oia, the caldera and the opposite side of the island. The hotel feels like a pensione, homey, simple and unpretentious with pretty artistic touches and neo-classical style. It is centrally located, close to shops and restaurants. Reasonable restaurants in the area I recommend are: Lotza, which also serves breakfast, has a homey feel and wonderful view; Strogili is good and reasonable, catering to a lot of Italian tourists; very reasonable and located directly above the pretty blue and white church above the caldera is Seagull. Good Greek salad, fried calamari (very tender) and a glass of wine cost E16.50. The hotel spa is a bit expensive, but the jacuzzi and massages are wonderful, if you can splurge. The Rasul cabin was a bit overrated - colored lights and scented shower in moderately heated "cabin". The Jacuzzi was great though - and private. The only downside to my visit was too much bread for breakfast, for a "wellness" themed hotel. I actualy gained a few pounds in the five days I stayed here. What about more fruit and protein? I was only given a hardboiled egg once and the coffee was usually not hot enough. And, given that orange juice is available on the island, why the awful canned stuff? The yogurt is delicious, however. Otherwise, the staff is very nice, mostly northern European, and checking in at the Ecorama office when you arrive in Oia makes perfect sense, otherwise how would you know where the hotel is? Everything considered, I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

    • Liked — Convenient location, simple but charming decor, lovely pool and view from the balcony
    • Disliked — Breakfast could be improved with hardboiled eggs, ham and orange juice (not the canned suff!)

“Sweet Place”

Best Western Museum Spa Wellness Hotel

Aug 30, 2007

My 8 year old son and I stayed here in July 07. This property is sweet. It is well located in the small town of Oia and has an internet cafe in the entrance. You do have to sign in at the bus station information booth, it gave us a chance to get our bearings straight. Someone walked us over to the hotel. The hotel is also a spa. The spa activities were out of our budget as the dollar exchange rate declined during the summer. The breakfast was wonderful served over looking the pool in back. We had a room with a nice view. The employees were very nice.
