My husband and I stay a night or two in the Eugene area about five times a year. We used to stay at the Best Western Grand Manor, but the price kept going up, the service kept going down, and the towels kept getting thinner and thinner. This time we tried the Shiloh Inn.
Yes, this is definitely an older property. The lobby was small but tidy, and the clerk efficient and welcoming. As we entered our section of the motel, we were a bit put off by the musty smell in the hallway, which is long and quite dark. However, our room was sparkling clean, with modern light furniture, a huge window and a very efficient air conditioner.
We opted for a king kitchenette suite, and it was extremely spacious with a full kitchen, couch, dining table & chairs, desk, WI-FI, flat-screen TV and very good firm bed. The bedspread was clean & fresh. The tub and bathroom sink areas were new, as was the kitchen. The toilet does need to be replaced, but it seemed to be the only sign of anything worn. Our price was $80 with AARP.
This is an area with about eight big-name hotels, so there are a lot of dining choices within an easy walk, everything from Jack-in-the-Box to Outback. We chose China Sun, which has a fantastic buffet including mongolian grill.
The Shiloh breakfast was the expanded Continental with very fresh pastries, muffins,Yoplait yogurt, make-your-own waffles, juice, etc. The breakfast room is quite small, so if they were very busy, it would be fairly congested.
Yes, as one reviewer mentioned, they have old fashioned room keys. (Just as all hotels used to have!) Our room locked just fine. We did not hear any noise from the hallway or from adjoining rooms. I think the northern end of the long building is somewhat newer. They do need to replace or patch repair the hallway carpet, and should repaint the dark red walls with something much lighter and cheerier!
I peeked in a regular room, which was not huge, but had adequate space with modern light furniture. I believe the non-kitchenette price is about $70.
We were satisfied with this motel at the price, and will stay here again in the future.
