My boyfriend and I traveled through the Hershey, PA area on a recent cross-country drive and booked a room for the night at the 1825 Inn. This inn is a bit of a drive from the interstate through some rolling hills, farmland, and small town streets. It is located near the Hershey Park attractions, which gave us plenty to explore even though that was not the purpose of our trip.
Innkeeper Will welcomed us warmly. He has created a very comfortable, home-y space in this historic house. We stayed in the Magnolia Room, which has a country style decor that isn't necessarily my cup of tea, but I could see and appreciate the care that was put into the room. It felt like staying as a guest in a friend's home rather than a hotel. Our room did not get a good wireless internet signal, but we were able to check our email and surf the web easily from the dining room and living room downstairs. We also helped ourselves to some of the complimentary hot cocoa and homemade cookies!
Will was able to recommend several attractions and restaurants in the area. Best of all, though, was the home-cooked breakfast served on the screened porch of the house. We shared a table with the other guests and enjoyed fresh baked breads, a quiche-like breakfast pie, and fresh fruit served with juice and coffee or tea.
