“Convenient to Villanova and Haverford”

Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Devon

We stayed here for one night before visiting Villanova and Haverford. The taxi ride from the hotel was about $52, but the cab driver knew didn't have a problem finding the hotel. The room was large and clean with firm beds and good water pressure in the shower. The bathrooms were small since they had the tub and toilet in one room and the sink in another.

The little convenience store near the front desk had wine, sandwiches, crackers, and some microwaveable food like macaroni and cheese.

It was about a 10-minute walk to the Strafford train station where we caught a train to Haverford.

“Good Hotel But Needs Work”

Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Devon

The town of Wayne/Devon is beautiful and you will enjoy sampling everything this town has to offer.

Booked a King Suite for a week thru Marriott website at $239. per night.
I took the advice of this forum and searched for a K mart in order to locate the Marriott. I have to agree, whoever selected this property site for a hotel should be fired. There is a PNC Bank directly in front of the hotel that obstructs the view from the road.

Check in was a breeze but the rolling bellhop cart had two flat tires and lugging one week worth of clothes and suitcases for me and my wife up to our 3rd floor room was exhausting. I mentioned this problem to the front desk, however, by the time we checked out a week later, the problem was still not fixed. Very lazy on the part of the Hotel and it's staff.

The room itself was nice and spacious with the exception of the bathroom. For a King Suite you would assume it would have an adequate bathroom with good water pressure, however this was not the case. The bathroom was a huge disappointment.

Breakfast in the lobby area was a great convenience. The Marriott puts out a nice spread of fresh breakfast items and priced reasonable at about $10.00 Only complaint was the egg products they use are not fresh eggs. I think they are liquid or powder.

Took advantage of the Gym room. A couple of treadmills are available as well as a stairclimber and some free weights. The bicycle was not working.

The swimming pool was the biggest disappointment: Upon entering the pool and steam tub room, I noticed a bacterial film on top of the "still" water surface of the swimming pool. Upon further investigation, I discovered the pools filtration system was not working. I immediately informed the Front Desk of this problem and they advised me it would be investigated. Seven days later, the problem was still not fixed. I almost wanted to call the health department and file a complaint.

On my way back from the pool room, I noticed the chamber maids cart in the hallway, as I approached closer, the maid on the first floor was pulling clean towels from the cart to place in the guest room; and she wiped the sweat from her forehead with the clean towels she was about to place in the room. I just kept walking and thought to myself, what would possess someone to do something so careless.

The common areas of the Hotel, (Hallways) were never vacuumed during our week stay at the Marriott and the elevator had the same finger print markings and filth on the walls and floor the entire week.

This Hotel lacks management. There is no reason the common areas should not be cleaned everyday. There is no reason the swimming pool should not be operating properly and finally, there is no reason the bellhop cart should have flat tires.

I most likely will not stay at this hotel ever again. There are other hotels in the area with more charm.

“Very Adequate Hotel”

Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Devon

As other reviewers have said, this hotel can be a bit tricky to find, but if you follow the advice offered here (look for the Big K -- it's behnd that and to the right), you'll have little trouble. It's a perfectly adequate hotel -- excactly what you would expect of a Courtyard -- no more and no less. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Everything worked. The breakfast was good, if not great. I did wish there was wireless Internet in the rooms -- it was only in the lobby -- but wire access was available in the room.

stayed three nights as doing a show at valley forge convention center. Had breakfast one day, it was fine. The room was an excellent location for us. Housekeeping was very good. Check in with Gary was a breeze. Close to Whole Foods supermarket, Bertuccis, etc. Will stay again.

“Its well hidden but otherwise a standard Courtyart”

The 1st thing is to note that this Courtyard is well hidden off to the side and towards the back of a shopping area. If you are driving along looking for a large 'Courtyard' sign which is in front of most Marriott properties, you search will be in vain. Do not ask at the gas station 1/2 mile down the road - the guy was clueless and sent reckoned it was two miles away in the wrong direction!

Just look out for the Big K and its in that shopping precinct behind a bank/cash outlet which actually fronts the road.

So its a convenient location with shops and other stuff nearby.

The hotel itself is a standard Courtyard. Comfortable, free working internet, etc. The gym was reasonably spacious and all the kit seemed to work.
