“The best chain hotel room ever!!!”

We only stayed one night at the Hilton and was amazed at how beautiful and new the hotel was. Our room was bargain basement priced and we were pleasantly surprised at how clean, spacious and comfortable the room was. The hotel is in a beautiful area to begin with and is ideally situated right before you go over the bridge to Hilton Head. The room was spacious, had wifi access and was quiet with no noise from the main road due to its set-back location. The best surprise was in the morning we went down to the lobby for a great hot breakfast for $8.95 with eggs cooked to order. The breakfast area was spacious and overlooked the outdoor pool. Just gorgeous! We were even seated and served by a very polite waiter. Can you imagine a chain hotel with such great beauty and service? This hotel is right on Rt 278 and there are many resteraunts to choose from. My husband and I will use this hotel exclusively when we go to Hilton Head for business. A real GEM!!!!

“Great Hotel, Great Customer Service!”

My two girlfriends and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in January 2006 for a long weekend. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we left home late and didn't arrive at the hotel until around midnight Friday night. I had called ahead of time, though, to make sure we had a late check in.

Our check in was smooth, and we promptly went to bed. However, it became obvious very quickly that one of my girlfriends had a terrible snoring problem! We were unaware of this problem prior to planning the trip. I was completely unable to go to sleep after working all day and driving for 3 hours. These were some serious, wall rattling snores!

About 2:00 am, I decided I had to do something. I was so exhausted. I went down to the front desk, explained my problem, and inquired if there was a drugstore or something nearby where I could get some earplugs. He said there was a Walmart a couple of miles away, but he didn't think they were open 24 hours. I asked if they had earplugs in their little pantry, but they did not.

Finally, I asked if they had another room available that I could take. I said it didn't matter to me what floor it was on, what kind of beds or if it was smoking or non smoking. The night clerk found a room for me just a couple of doors down from my original room. He even walked me up to the door and made sure I got in OK. (I think I must've looked really pitiful!) I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep. (Unfortunately, the previous guest in that room had not turned off the alarm clock, so I got an unexpectedly loud 6:00 am wake up! LOL!)

The next morning, I went downstairs about 9:00 to return the room key and thank the clerk for his help. He was off duty, but I did mention his help to the current clerk as I checked out of that extra room. I fully expected to have my credit card charged for the full amount of the room, but lo and behold, when I got my bill, they didn't charge me a dime. I found that to be a refreshing display of customer concern and service. They had every right to charge me something for the 7 hours the room was in my name, and I feel sure that another hotel probably would've charged for a full night's stay. I wrote a letter commending this hotel and that night clerk for their customer service, and I will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in the future whenever I can.

As for the room, it was big enough for the three of us. We had a handicap accessible bathroom, so I can't vouch for the size of the regular bathrooms. But the room was quiet (outside of the snoring, LOL), clean and didn't smell like smoke or anything.

Overall, a great experience. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend!

“Not a good hotel at all for families”

What a huge mistake and I am a seasoned traveller!! We stopped to enjoy this beach area in August 2005. I didn't have a lot of time or money to research the hotels since we just decided on a whim "Hey! Let's stop at Hilton Head island for a few days while we're passing through!". Big mistake. I unfortunately picked Hilton Head Inn and Suites. We were not impressed. The rooms were not nice, too small, kitchen was not maintained properly, and the building needed work. The table wouldn't hold my girls breakfast because it was broken and they had to eat on the floor! The pool was not close by. It was in their sister buliding which I hear is much better, but the walk!!!! That's why they say they have shuttles! Parking was a pain!
The beach was even worse!! It was not near by we had to cross a Very, very busy street and pass by another complex to get to it and I must say the beach was not just dirty, it was filthy! I was sick for a week afterwards and we only stayed one night! Hilton head has too many boats and water craft polluting the waters and the dark foam on the beach should have been my first clue.
The shopping was expensive! This is a very upscale area and they really charge up the wazoo for any kind of service or product. Look - if you're a family looking for a clean beach and fun quite surroundings to get a way from it all - go to Kure and Carolina Beach in North Carolina! Check out Reefs V or any other other rentals in the area. It is sooooo much better!

“Gave Our Room Away with No Conpensation!!!!!”

Hilton Garden Inn Hilton Head

My husband and I arrived late in the evening for our check-in only to find that our suite, which had been confirmed along with confirmation of a late arrival, had been given away. When we asked what accomodations would be provided to us and our 3 teen-agers, we were told by the manager on duty that they had a single smoking room with a king size bed to offer us. We advised them that we had just driven 6 hours, it was very late, I am highly allergic to smoke, and there were 5 of us to sleep in 1 king size bed. The attitude was UNBELIEVABLE. We asked for them to put us up in another hotel for the night until our suite was available, and they refused. We even got the operations manager on the phone, who refused to pay for a room for us elsewhere. By the time we left, we had gone through 3 levels of managers to no avail. We have stayed with Hilton for 20 years, several years at Gold status, currently at Silver, and have never experienced this kind of treatment at a Hilton or any other Hotel, for that matter. And when, in the end, we filed a claim with the HIlton chain, the manager LIED to customer service and said that he had resolved the matter with us. I have never seen such a total disregard for customer service. We will NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL again. TRAVELERS BEWARE!!!! This made our vacation extremely stressful. We highly recommend that you stay elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!
