Holiday Inn, Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas Market Center.
Apparently this location had problems under a previous brand, and just opened in January 2008 after a two year remodel.
The new Holiday Inn looks nothing like the old photos posted on this site.
We found all beautiful new remodeled rooms, lobby, parking lot, outside deck and pool, common areas, fitness center, restaurant and bar. All new, and clean. Staff was very friendly and hospitable.
We were picked up at DAL by their complimentary shuttle, and continued to utilize all weekend in tandem with the #44 DART bus which stops directly outside, and will take you downtown in under 9 minutes.
We had a Queen-Queen, and were very pleased overall.
Room is new- carpeting, bed, tv, et al. Nice shower pressure with their unusual looking Moen massager nozzle. Only negative is that window is sealed shut. We would have liked to open for some fresh air.
Nice outdoor pool, deck and seating area. Very nice pub and restaurant on property.
Menu is typical Holiday Inn for breakfast, and offers their new limited lunch and dinner menu.
We chose not to rent a car, and still managed to get around handsomely. We took their shuttle to the light rail station, and then took the train to the Dallas Zoo. We also took the free McKinney Uptown Trolley (McKinney & Ross, near the Fairmont Hotel) to a great neighborhood, full of shops, restaurants and pubs. Dealey Plaza - probably a must see- is also within the 5 mile radius of this hotels' complimentary shuttle. There is not as much to do or see in Downtown Dallas proper- as one would expect in a city of this size -go and see it for yourself.
Exercise caution at night, especially in the West End neighborhood.
Not much in the direct vicinity of the hotel. There is a 24 hour convenience store appx three blocks away, and a popular breakfast and lunch restaurant directly adjacent.
Over all- you won't go wrong here. Free parking for guests with a car.
