I attended a conference in February at the Doral and already booking a room for me and my colleagues posed a challenge for the reservations department. Although confirmed by the event organizer the hotel did not have a clue about our reservations just 1 day before arrival. I guaranteed 3 rooms to my CC when making the reservation however upon check-in my colleagues put down their own CC for incidentals. Usually a hotel blocks the room charge plus 20-30pct on your CC. In my case they blocked all 3 rooms against my CC. After speaking with front desk staff I could only see clueless faces. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable however I wonder why the housekeeper left the bathroom cleaner next to the sink, btw an industrial cleaner which can cause irreversible damage to your eyes. Glad I didn't travel with children. If you get thirsty in the middle of the night and want to help yourself to a refreshment from the mini-bar the hotel has another surprise for you. It's empty. Front Desk again can't really explain why. Breakfast ist average and if staff could smile it would make a difference. Only highlight the hotel's bar. The female bartender is very friendly and quick. It doesn't take much to improve those things but if management is even too scared to show up at the front desk when asked for then I don't know....

Did not stay at this hotel but played golf there on superbowl weekend. Nobody working there was over 20 yrs. old!!! Did not see the cart girl until the 12th hole!! When we did see her she said "oh i have been out here all day" yea in the AC by the bar! GARBAGE!! We also called at the turn to order food but the cook went home sick. The problem was there was another grill open they forgot and did not bother to tell us about. So when we got there the grill guy didnt realize his propane went out, so while waiting for our 8 dollar burgers three groups passed us! No ranger out there to control pace of play. GarBage! I never complain about things either! But the service at this golf course is better at a third world country. POO POO!!!

Stayed here one night in April 2007 for a business event at the hotel.

First the good. Rooms were nice and big. Very clean with good bathroom and bedding. Room service was good and delivery efficient. Gym was very average and tiny.

The staf was the lowlight of the property. The front desk was clueless and the women (every single woman I dealt with at the front desk) were especially rude and nasty. I had a fax sent to me at the hotel 3 separate times and they couldn't find the first two and accused me of sending it to the wrong place. I had my analyst email a copy of the fax tramission confirm to proveit was sent to them and they basically responded "Don't have it, that fax sheet is wrong". Had a third fax sent the following morning. Same problem. This time I refused to take no for an answer and demanded they find it. Left me on hold for 30 minutes while I packed. Finally, went down and demanded tto speak with the manager. No manager arrived, but after 10 minutes they send out some old man from the biz center to explain they didn't receive it. Turned out they filed it under the name of the sender, not my name as the receipent. There response was "Oh, yeah. That was why we couldn't find it." No apology! Total staff incompetency all around. For a supposed business hotel, this place fails.

The Doral Tesoro has a somewhat secluded location, near Texas Motor Speedway north of Fort Worth. If you are using it as a base to explore the attractions of Fort Worth, be prepared to drive.

The hotel itself is rather bland on the outside, and the interior is finished in a combination of art deco and Texana. A bit of an odd combo. Staff is friendly, but not always knowledgable. A few things that are missing:

1. Valet parking (they have it sporadically, but there are long stretches where the bell stand is not staffed).
2. Gift/Sundry shop. There is a small "closet" beside the bell desk with a few items, but selection is very limited.
3. Minibars and vending machines
4. There is no spa, is a smallish workout room.

Rooms are comfy and fairly large. Ate dinner at the restaurant, faire is primarily fish and steak, with a few other selections thrown in. Again, the selections seem to lack a common theme. But the food I had was tasty and service was OK.

All in all, this is one of those hotels I would not go out of my way to return to, but if I needed to go there on business or otherwise, would not be upset about it.
