“Quiet, clean, friendly, EXCELLENT option in Dallas”

Dallas Marriott Las Colinas

I was surprised to see that I did not write a review of this hotel last year when I was a guest. I'll sum up two years in this review. EXCELLENT. I am a Dallas/Ft. Worth native, and am very familiar with Irving and Las Colinas. I don't know how old this Marriott is, but it is relatively new and maybe even just a couple of years old. First, it is conveniently located off highway 114 by the famous Mustangs of Las Colinas. My fiance and I stayed there last year and this year because he was working the Thanksgiving Cowboys game, and my parents live just west of the airport. Therefore, this was a very convenient choice to the stadium, my family, friends, and plenty of restaurants. Last year, we felt like we were in The Shining because nobody was there, or so it seemed. This year, the Jets stayed at the hotel so there was a lot more activity, but still, very quiet and peaceful. The room itself is your typical Marriott room - clean, internet, comfy bed, etc. The bathroom is roomy and we had a nice size balcony overlooking the pond. It was very relaxing to sit out there, even though it was 80 degrees one minute and the next minute it had dropped to 40 degrees. There are robes in the closets, which is always impressive to me. The concierge level was closed, so they comped our breakfast for 2 days. The restaurant is big, and they have an excellent breakfast selection and buffet including lo-carb and lo-fat options. There is a bar and a nice seating area in the lobby. The workout center has treadmills, bikes, efx machines, weights, bottled water, towels, and 2 HD TV's which allowed me to watch ESPN and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade simultaneously. This Marriott also has a computer and printer at the front desk so that you can check in and print boarding passes on the way out the door. They have their own parking garage so there is plenty of room to park conveniently. Finally, my fiance asked for laundry service and was concerned about the holiday...no problem, they had it ready for him Thanksgiving morning. Great service, great location, and you can't beat the value you receive for the price. If you are staying in Irving or want to be close enough yet far away to downtown Dallas, TX Stadium (for one more year), or DFW airport, I would certainly recommend this hotel.

“Dated and Stale Marriott Hotel”

Dallas Marriott Las Colinas

Nov 25, 2007

The Marriott Hotel at Las Colinas was very overpriced, but the furnishings were very much dated and the room and bathroom were not thoroughly cleaned. I was very disappointed. My advice - check out the
Omni Hotel Park West (see separate pics and review).

“Nice, but somewhat stale”

I visited this hotel over Valentine's Day for business. The facilities are nice, but you can tell the area is new and the construction was quite offputting (although there is little they can do about it.) The room was standard Marriott, but my view was of a crane and a bunch of drywall.
I asked a valet parker (I think that was his job) where I could go on Valentine's Day for dinner that would not be packed. He gave me directions to a place that I followed to a T. When I arrived, I noticed it was a "gentleman's club." Well, he was correct, there is little chance of getting stuck behind a bunch of people on dates there. I returned to the hotel and had a very good meal at the bar.

“Nice and Clean”

Dallas Marriott Las Colinas

We recently stayed at this Marriott for 4 nights for a Mom/Daughters college and shopping trip. This is a great hotel for business or leisure. The lobby and rooms are updated and clean. Check-in was a breeze and the pre-trip requests to the concierge for extra pillows and room service upon arrival were handled perfectly. We ordered room service several times and it was fresh, delicious and timely. One of the employees told me that Marriott had recently completed new beds and bedding in all there hotels worldwide. The beds were very comfortable and the linens and pillows were pristine. We had recently stay at a pricey hotel in Las Vegas with holes in the sheets and carpets so it was nice to be so impressed. The bathroom was clean and well-appointed. They have Bath and Body Works toiletries, which was a nice touch. There are no restuarants
within walking distance but several are within a short drive. Our only complaint was that the front desk seemed bothered anytime we asked questions or advice. Overall, we were impressed and plan to stay here often
while our daughter attends college in town

“New property centrally located”

Dallas Marriott Las Colinas

4 of 5 stars
Waterford, MI

The Marriott Las Colinas in the City of Irving is a nicely appointed property located in a quickly growing upscale Dallas suburb.

While the property was a little difficult to find at first, once we arrived check in was handled promptly and our request for a high floor King room located away from elevators/vending areas was granted without any fuss. Being a newer property, the lobby area sparkled, with a centrally located lounge, with a patio overlooking a water area. A small gift shop and hotel bistro restaurant were also located off the main lobby.

Our room featured a very comfortable King bed, a nice work area, and your standard chair/ottoman furnishings. No overpriced mini-bar...but a small fridge which came in handy for storing beverages. The television was your typical 25-27 inch standard definition model...but if you're going on vacation to stay in your room to watch plasma tv's, you may want to rethink your vacation locations.

The Marriott Las Colinas wasn't necessarily close to any major attraction, but nicely located within a short driving distance of several tourist attractions. Six Flags Texas and The Texas Rangers Ballpark were both about a 30 minute drive away (factoring in heavy traffic), the Galleria shopping and downtown Dallas also were about 30 minutes away. Several Movie theaters, golf courses, parks and other upscale shopping locations were located nearby. One suggestion, buy a decent map of the area. We found the map provided by the hotel "Where" magazine insufficent, and got turned around several times.

The pool area and workout room were nice, but not spectacular. We found the hall noise and adjacant room noise minimal. There was the somewhat irritating $10 a day fee for internet access...but that was off-set by free parking in a well lit, parking garage some 30 feet from the hotel! You could pay for valet...but why bother. Ample parking was always available... and free. You can't beat that.

Overall our experience at the Marriott Las Colinas was very nice, although I thought the $219 a night weekday rate was about $30 dollars too high. The staff was friendly, professional, and I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.
