“Should go there”

I had such a good time that I can't wait to go back!

The place is so charming, so romantic that my husband and I have already decided to go back in September 08. We have been previoulsy to Bermuda but never stayed in CB (have stayed at Pompano 2 times and The Reefs 1 time) but now this is set CB will be our home away from home in Bermuda.
The staff is fantastic and very helpful.......the beaches are very private compare to other resorts ......I would recomand anyone who want to stay in Bermuda to seriously consider CB. We stayed in a cottage room and it was great and the view so beautiful....well can't wait to be there again in September.

“At best, quaint and old fashioned”

Cambridge Beaches

CB is an old resort throwback to the early 1900s with a semi-sprawling layout with mini cottages on either side of a picturesque peninsula. We were on the Mangrove bay side which is a pretty bay with sailboats and houses on the far side.

The best thing about CB was the quiet location, and nice vistas although far from being the best I've seen.

The bad:
Service: was sitting by the pool for 3 hours and never got served. One waiter came and serviced one couple once or twice but never looked my way.. went up to the bar to order lunch.

Aside from lunch time you couldn't find the bartender behind the bar..

came down at 9:30 am to the pool after breakfast and was one of the first there. There were no towels on one of the towel racks and I had to search for one that had towels.

The beach had a fair bit of glass, some plastic garbage, etc. maybe someone raked early in the morning but generally the place was understaffed.

If you are looking for a cool, boutiqgue hotel with flat screened TV's, chique poolside bar, great friendly service then CB is not your best bet. Its more for 60+ year old, British style service, crowd who likes croquet, and putting on the mini-putt green. I don't think it was worth the money IMO.

We just returned from Cambridge Beaches and I have to say it was just o.k., not outstanding. Being educators we needed a break from kids and booked this hotel specifically because of its "no children under 5" policy. Since the hotel didn't cater to children, we expected to see few, but our first nap was startled awake by a 7 or 8-year old's high pitched laugh through the thin connecting door. Our bed and patio door to our balcony opened directly into the view of the patio door and bed of another unit - where another young child was playing on the bed - so much for a romantic dinner on the balcony. We had to keep that curtain closed the whole time! I thought the units would be more private. The front desk did offer to move us and checked to let us know that the child in the connecting room was leaving the next day. They also offered to not put any children in the connecting room during our stay. They were very accommodating! The hotel did not say "no children" so it was mostly our expectation that it would be pretty "child-free" - just a warning for others who may have the same expectation. The room itself was huge and had a nice water view. There were several leaks in the condo, one of which was huge and flooded the entire foyer 2 days and seeped onto the rug about 5 feet. We sopped it up with towels each day and the maid dutifully took the sopping towels away! The windows either would not open or the one that did had no screens so it was impossible to enjoy the breeze from the water. Breakfast and tea were outstanding. Breakfast staff was very attentive. Dinner was o.k. and dinner staff was not attentive, plus another child about 6 was at the table next to us talking loudly. We only ate at the resort one day for dinner. We had very relaxing massages at the spa - highly recommended! Scooters are available for rent on the property which was very convenient. Be careful - a tourist was killed while riding a scooter while we were there. The roads are narrow and winding and driving is on the left! We had a good time, but we would probably try out a different property next time.

“Stayed at CB”

Cambridge Beaches

I will be brief by saying that I have been leaving in Asia for the last ten years (where hotels are known for great service) but I must say that at Cambridge beach I was treated like if I've had been here for many years.
From reception to restaurant faultless.
Great location (the most romantic on the island I guess), great food, great and friendly staff
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to stay in a great well managed hotel in Bermuda.

Certainly not for every wallet, but worth the expense!!
