“A fantastic aparthotel to stay at”

Viva Mallorca Aparthotel

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Viva Mallorca Aparthotel in Can Picafort(not to be confused with Viva Holiday Village Can Picafort, which is just down the road).
This aparthotel is a fantastic place to stay, the facilities are first class. The whole complex is well landscaped, with trees, shrubs and grassed areas. The 3 pools mean there is enough room and they are never crowded. One pool is available for over 18's only, with large sun beds around, a lovely quiet place to relax and have a quiet swim. The aprtments are spacious and well equiped. They are always clean, linen is regularly changed throughout your stay. There are activities to join in with if you want to, daily aquagym, a favourite for many. Daily water polo, football, a tennis court, table tennis and more. There are clubs for different age grous. Our teenagers joined in with the sporting activities, not many did though, which was a shame. The hotel attracts visitors from Germany, Holland, Iceland and Britain. It was good to have a mix of nationalities for a change.
We ate in most days, half board is available. The food is excellent, enough choice for everyone. It is buffet style,so you can try what ever you want.
Can Picafort is not the most attractive resort we have visited on the island, but the beach is excellent, the sea is turqouise, shallow for quite a distance out and lifeguards there all day.
We explored different parts of the island, and enjoyed walks along costal paths, a trip around several hairpin bends to a restaurant below Castle Alaro, not for the fainthearted!(then drive that is). We spent 2 afternoons at our favourite resort Puerto Pollensa, and ate at Pascolina Chinese restaurant on the promoenade in the town, 3 course set meal with a drink for 8.50 Euros. Another good place for lunch, is 3 km out of Can Picafort, S'Alqueria, a lovely courtyard setting,a set menu for 8 Euros.
We had a great 2 weeks at Viva Mallorca, and met families who had been there before. We like to go to new places each year, but could be tempted to return to this hotel in the future!

“Great Facilities”

Viva Mallorca Aparthotel

My family and i have just returned from a weeks stay at the Viva Mallorca.
This was not our first choice hotel (were moved here 2 days before due to arrive). However we were very impressed.
The hotel is very difficult to find. We had to get directions from the local petrol station. The hotel is located behind the Euroski supermarket just as you enter Ca'an Picafort, however once you arrive you will find a small oasis.
The staff are extremely welcoming. The reception were aware of our change in accomodation but did not make a big deal of it.
One tip, pay the depsoit to get hotel towels. They can be exchanged monday, wed, fri so saves a lot of hassle in taking own towels. Also saves on the washing.
We found our room ready upon our arival and it was spotless.
The safe in the room- put the key in the vertical position as instructions are wrong. We contacted reception and had a service person at our door within 5 mins. Very good service.
We ate in the buffet in the evening and at breakfast. The service is very efficient, the food standard is very good with plenty of variety which should suit all tastes. If you dont prebook meals then buy them on site and you get a discount.
The grounds are very well tended, again spotless, however two complaints.
1. Sunbeds. Apparently no reserving before 9am, good idea, however what did happen was that 1 member of a group would put towels on 5 or 6 beds and remain on 1 of them until 9am so giving the impression that they were being used. Rather cheeky.
2. Over 18 area and pool. Great idea, and great area if it wasnt for the fact that the pool constantly had young children in, and the double sun beds were often occupied by children.
The entertainment staff work their socks off, if you want to get involved you can if you dont then there is no pressure. The night time shows are good, suitable for all.
No noise after 11pm which is a great idea and seems adhered to.
All in all this is a great complex, in fact you dont have to actually leave during your stay.

We have just returned from a weeks Holiday with my wife and our 17month old son. We had a great time, The Hotel is good, the resort is nice and flat and fairly quiet and the beach is clean and the water very shallow. The Hotel is totally aimed at families and scores a big tick, We went self catering as we wanted to ensure that food etc and food prep for our little boy was not going to be an issue (this was our first Holiday abroad). Amenities for S/C were good with an on site supermarket (expensive) and a very good big Supermarket nearby that sells everything. The Hotel is very clean and has more cleaners, gardeners, houskeepers etc than you can shake a big stick at. The Hotel is full of Brits, and it's early towels im afraid if you want that prime bed by the pool (though there is loads of them so you wont go short). We ate in the Reataurant (canteen)once for an evening meal and a couple of times for breakfast, as other reviews point out the food in the evening is not amazing but it is ok. The breakfast though is definite good value at 10 euros. The resort of can picafort is older but quite nice, the main front has an esplanade that runs from one end near the harbour to the other along the front, and is flat and has no cars. There are lots of Restaurants and there is a definite German slant towards most venues (though this was not a problem for us) There is a road that runs behind the front linking it to other resoerts etc but again its not wide or very busy. Lots of buses, boat trips etc are available and Alcudia is a 15 minute bus trip away (its sardine times on the buses, really full). Book a Taxi if you want one as they are difficult to hail and you could spend your whole holiday waiting at a taxi rank. This is the first time we have ever written a review and we just wanted to convey what we felt of the Hotel, resort etc going on holiday as a new family. The Hotel is probably a 4 star with standards and amenities to match and for a first time abroad with a 17 month old we felt it was very good.

“Great Family Fun”

Hi All, please read this for your benefit. I’ve just came back from a lovely holiday with my wife and 2 sons (8 and 5) that we had here. I booked this independently so wanted to share some info with you that should be helpful. This is definitely a FAMILY orientated hotel and I recommend it for a GREAT FAMILY holiday. Just follow some pointers below -

Before you go: Booked the flights direct with Mon*** (there and back) including reserved seats and paid for 2 bags of luggage. This worked out cheaper too and safer as I knew where we were going to be seated and all be together (important for a young family). Don't opt for seats in the middle of the plane though like I did, as you'll only see the wings when looking out the windows.

Hired a car, which I'm glad I did as this got us out and around the island. Easy to drive there and do some research (and record the cheapest) first as I did this then got it price matched with a further 10% off after I booked my flights. Take your own booster seats if necessary as this saves more money and is free/easy to do with the airlines.

If you do book independently then wait until the last 10 days and book direct, as they tend to offer the rooms for 25-30% off if booked for more than 3 nights. This was a considerable saving on the week. They take 10% deposit for this and the rest payable on arrival, which I found great. Also did self-catering.

Opted for s/c so not to be restricted regarding where to eat. Glad we did as we found that if we wanted to upgrade to HB or eat at their restaurant (all you can eat buffet style but pretty good choice of food and nice too) then it was cheaper to do this on the night or when you get to the hotel. Not a great choice of kids food and drinks are extra with evening meals but otherwise good. Try Don Dinas near the harbour in can picafort and Zodiac Pizza restaurant as both very good value for money. These are both of the main road through town.

Definitely take good travel insurance with you and I'd even recommend paying the extra to get the best cover required without paying excess too. You'll need to research this before you go.

Finding it: Hotel is a little hard to find if you do drive, so make sure you study the map on their website first to get an idea.

Basically it's behind the big supermarket, by the ring road near the beginning of can picafort town. You'll need to take the first exit of the 2nd ring round to get to the hotel the easy way, and then it's straight up 200 yards. (This’ll make sense when you get there.)

Hotel Features/benefits and check in: Obtain safety box from reception, which is in the room (for 16 euros plus 5 refundable deposit), which I found very useful and got this at the start of the week. Input own combination for this.

Make sure you hire beach towels from reception at the start of the week, deposit of 10 euros each but refunded when towels returned at end of holiday. They also change them whenever you need a new one, so always clean.

Pools are absolutely spot on and great for families of all ages with plenty of sun beds to pick from. Indoor pool is small and quite cold but still ok.

Hotel mix was good with mostly British/German families but everyone very friendly. Ideal really!

Apartments are great (especially the walk in showers) but if you do decide to eat at home you'll need to hire kettle and toaster for the week (12 euros each plus 10 euros deposit each) and do this at the start. You may be wasting you money though as you'll probably eat out most of the time. TV has 15 channels and all except CNN are German.
Kids club is based outside of reception in a cabin near the hotel entrance. It has a playing next to it. Never got the kids to do this as they were always in the pool but they did lots of activities there, which looked fun.

Hotel is about 500m from beach but over a few roads so it can be a bit of a pain with kids, but beach seemed ok. Pool at hotel was better anyway.

Hotel supermarket is expensive but there is one (left out of the hotel) not far away, which is very big and a lot cheaper (almost half price).

Great courtesy rooms, so after check out you can stay at the hotel, they look after your luggage, and give you towels for a shower (free) if you want one in the courtesy rooms, which are basically luxury family changing room. These are by the hotel supermarket.

Parking is free.

Overall: Hotel has everything required to make it a very good family holiday including playgrounds, bouncy castles, astro tennis court/
football pitch, great pools and restaurant and family entertainment until 10pm and VERY VERY CLEAN. Make sure you take enough money as the euro is expensive at the mo otherwise go prepared and have a very a good family holiday.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay for the 3rd year and the hotel is still as good as when it opened. We were a party of 6 staying in 2 apartments that were as immaculate as the whole complex.
The apartment comprises of a living room with 2 sofas that can be made up into beds, table and chairs, a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, two hobs and as usual in spain no kettle! The double bedroom has lots of storage space and patio doors that open on to the balcony that runs the length of the bedroom and living room area. The bathroom has a bath as well as a separate walk in shower area.
The pool area is spacious with a small adult only pool, there is a large pool and another childrens pool with some play equipment in. There is also an indoor pool, spa and gym. For 10 Euros deposit you can have a pool towel, the money returned to you when towel is returned. There is a large pool bar where snacks can also be purchased. The grounds are very clean and tidy with some beautiful planting and trees. We saw a bouncy castle and play area for children but didn't look too closely.
Can't comment about the food as we never ate in the restaurant but went to the bar 1 evening and thought it was expensive. Much cheaper to buy your own at a local supermarket.
It was my daughters 21st birthday and my father in laws birthday while we were there and the hotel left them both a bottle of bubbly and card, a very nice touch.
The hotel is a little out of the way, probably a 10 min wander downhill to the beach and about another 5 to restaurants and shops.
Without a doubt we will be staying there again next May.
