After 10 phone calls and months of trouble booking with Barrhead Travel (countless errors on booking forms, and who i will now not use again), we had a lovely family holiday at the Pax. There were 4 adults and 2 children, ages 59,58,35,30,13 & 9 (two rooms). I found the Pax to be that of what i read in previous reviews.
The rooms were modern, spotless and very spacious. Beautiful views from both balconys. The food was great, a little repeatative, but that was maybe because instead of choosing one meal per night, we were having a little taste of everything on our plate as there was just so much on offer! The hotel is about 2 mins from beach and 5 mins from main resort. It is situated on a hill so could be tricky for anyone with walking difficulties.
The pools were very cold but nicely sized and clean, there was however a muddy smelly drain with muddy water overflowing the whole week we were there and no one seemed to bother about it! The pool toilet was spotless, the cleanest ive ever seen in fact! Only moan i did have about the pools was that although there was a blatant sign warning against keeping sunbeds, there were still your individuals down at the pool at 8am to put towels on the same 9 beds each day (it was all the one family may i add), even when they werent going to sit there for most of the day, which i thought was very selfish, but you get these people everywhere i suppose!
The entertainment went from great one night to okay the next.
They had a Four Tops cover group on one night named the majestics who were very good and entertained young and old.
The children entertainers did very well encouraging the young and old to take part in the various games during the day and night and also putting on their own wee show at night. Big applause and thanx to Will (bingo bongo) and Sally for their endless entertainment and hard work.
Would also like to add a special recommendation and thanx to all the other friendly and welcoming staff at the Pax, especially the meals/kitchen staff, Manolo and Florentino etc who endlessly cleared plates with a smile, and the friendly bar staff who always served you with a smile no matter what time of day it was! Also the men on reception, well done.
My family and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pax, but are unfortunately hesitant that we would visit again down to two things -
1. Young people (late teens and 20's) staying on our landing, two nights in a row we were wakened by noise at 4am, 5am, and 6am from them returning from nights out. - No good when you have children, and things to do the next day.
2. Because on arrival you can be sent to either the Marina Pax or Marina Barracuda next door - to be honest i like to know exactly where i will be staying when holidaying, as i dont think its worth taking the chance after saving up all year to go, and for the family to be disappointed.
So come on Marina Pax - ensure us we can stay there and wont be shifted to the Barracuda and we will return.
Also keep the hotel to families and couples only and it would keep your reputation up. It would be much better all round if you would leave the stags and hens to go to better suited accommodation where they can party all night without ruining others' holidays.
