“A Super Holiday Hotel!”

Hotel Marina Corfu

This is the second time within the last year that we have visited this hotel and everything was as excellent as the first time. This year we booked the holiday direct with the hotel for a family group of fourteen people with an age range of twelve years to my Dad at eighty two years of age! Everything was a breeze from booking the break, requesting (and receiving) similar rooms from the previous year and providing a birthday cake in the restaurant , at very short notice.
The room sizes & cleanliness are excellent (including provision of a fridge ), the food is varied & well presented and the staff polite & attentive.
The location is excellent with the added bonus of being able to use the sister hotel across the narrow sandy beach cove, which seperates the two hotels. A good selection of shops, bars and restaurants are close by and for the more adventurous Cala D'Or is a pleasant walk or short taxi or mini train ride away.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to someone wanting a good family holiday.

Excellent location, its own private little beach seconds away from the hotel and safely viewed from the hotel complex.
A nice shallow sea cove with crystal clear waters, very safe for children.

Very clean and tidy hotel, no stag groups etc, just families with children and couples, no hassles.

Food was initially good but towards end of 2nd week felt it was going downhill and lacked imagination, (i.e. never did anything barbecued which most Europeans would in warmer weather).
Speaking with those families that have gone year on year the previous chef has left so it may be down to the new one or expense cutbacks.

Excellent entertainment team, lots of short activities to do throughout the day to prevent those who don't like sitting on a sunbed all the time from getting bored.
E.g archerey, pistol shooting, air rifle shooting, volleyball, football, water polo, water basket, killer pool, killer darts, table tennis tennis.
I am not overly sporty but these events were led by reps who made it fun and it helped to get to know other holidaymakers.

All in all a nice hotel.
The resort itself is small but there is nearby walkable Cala D'or to pass a day at also.
Plus the lovelly marina with the xepensive boats to drool over..

Top tip, ask for a room overlooking the beach, rear of hotel looks onto road BUT it is a quite one but doesn't have the lovely sea view.
Entertainment on a night isn't noisy, it is family orientated and closes for midnight at the latest.
If you do have a road viewing room then yours would be shielded more from this though as I say it really isn't a problem and the sea views outweigh it, plus if you don't want to go down to the entertainments area, (balconies also look onto pool, beach area) you can watch from your balcony.

A very nice place, the fact that many we spoke to have gone year on year is testament to its quality and standards.

“Brilliant location and value”

We travelled to the Marina Corfu mindfull of some of the negative comments on this web site and when we arrived, quickly realised that some sad people must go on holidays and spend their time
trying to find faults to winge about!
Remember - 'YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!'
This hotel was superb value.
Fantastic location with its sister hotel either side of beautiful terqouise blue inlet with small but adequate soft sandy beach, which despite its size always had sunbeds to spare and never looked too crowded due to the availability of the adjacent pool terrace areas.
The inlet/bay was lined with rocks that increased in height towards the sea. Steps and small platforms had been made to enable the more adventurous swimmers to access and exit the crystal clear water by jumping or diving from varying heights up to 30ft !! Great fun!!
The Hotel was spotlessly clean, with the most happy, proffessional and helpfull staff we have ever experienced, including the girls that cleared the tables and even the cleaners.
Good selection of food at each sitting with tables always available due to the amazingly efficient restaurant staff. Short cues if any, for drinks at the several bars and they dont restrict you to two drinks each.(Massive measures of Baileys!)
Lots of activities every day for adults and kids if you like that sort of thing. We had a party of four adults; two fifteen year old boys, one thirteen year old boy and a 6 year old boy and they normally had something to do if the adults just wanted to chill. (Or roast as was the case in the boiling hot sun!)
The local resort of Cala D'Or was only five minutes drive away and had several similar style, but bigger, beaches and enough restaurants and bars to last you a lifetime.
The Marina - even nearer, is a must with its "dream about" boats and nice restaurants/bars.
If you only wanted a short strole, the bars and restaurants in Cala Egos were ample for a late drink and a game of pool for the lads. Sparkles is the local late music bar (Cant really call it a Club) only 3 mins walk from Hotel. Friendly and as with the rest of the resort - no yobs!
All in all (excluding the dreadfull Easyjet experience of cancelled outgoing flight!!! -no fault of Hotel), we had a fantastic holiday. Our only reservation would be that the evening entertainment for adults was poor. At 11.30pm the 'in house show' (only had one proper proffessional act all ten days we were there) finished and immediately the ever efficient staff, started stacking the unoccupied chairs and tables all around the guests. And at 12.00 midnight all the external lights were just switched off regardless of how many people were still finishing their drinks!
I suppose that at All Inclusive hotels it is not very profitable for the bars to stay open late indefinately.
But this would not put us off going back again as the positives far outway the negs.
Very highly recommended indeed.

“Had a great holiday!”

Hotel Marina Corfu

The hotel is twinned with the Skorpios, which is across the cove.

The hotels are actually in the resort of Cala Egos, a couple of km from Cala D'Or itself and seem initially to be a bit isolated. However, turning left from the Corfu reception, at the roundabout is the "train" stop and a taxi rank. Cala D'Or is about 6 Eur each way by taxi. However, if you turn right at the roundabout, there are plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants.

Of the two hotels, the Corfu is farther back from the sea and overlooks the entertainment area, pool, and bar areas, so is the noisier of the two. However, you have a longer walk from the Skorpios to the pool and entertainment.

The Corfu has some rooms facing the road - which is not a pleasant view. We had completed our booking before seeing the recommendations to request a seaview room, so I was very very glad when we did get a seaview room anyway. It is definitely worth making this a request! That said, you get a pool view and can only see the sea if you crane your neck a bit :-)

The cove is beautiful. However, there are jelly fish in the sea and a number of people got stung whilst we were there.

Sun beds on the beach are 4 Eur each per day. Around the pool they are free. They're locked up at night and the unlocked at 9am. However, there are loads of chairs and tables, so people tend to use these to reserve spots from about 8am, swapping them for beds at 9am. The problem is not so much the lack of beds as the lack of space, especially in high season.

There are not enough parasols. However, cheap ones can be bought from the local shops for just over 6 Eur. You can then upturn the square tables - round tables don't work; the base is different ;-) - and use them as parasol stands.

Don't try to bring the parasols home though if you fly EasyJet, unless they actually fit in the case! (If you're lucky on arrival you might meet some poor soul standing at arrivals trying to give away parasols to new arrivals rather than pay EasyJet another 18 Eur to transport them! ).

The food was excellent and we didn't see any sign of undercooked or hot food gone cold during our stay. Plenty of fruit and salad options. The restaurant could sometimes be busy but we never had to wait for a table. There was a great deal of choice - don't forget to check out the table at the end of the restaurant where they often serve roasts or other specials!

The two drinks per person limit wasn't strictly enforced, provided you didn't go stupid. The glasses are plastic anyway, and it was hilarious watching some people trying to carry all their drinks back to the table in one go. It wasn't even necessary as even at the busiest times, the queue was only a minute or two long, and staff were very strict about the queue and would refuse to serve anyone trying to push in.

Rooms were big and clean. Beds comfy, although mine squeaked a bit. Soundproofing could be better - you can hear conversations next door. Aircon was good, and very welcome as temperatures hit 36deg.

The entertainment for youngsters was good, although we did have some concerns about security for the very young (no booking in/out system and kids free to wander off).

There was a decent show most evenings. However, we got the feeling that the resident entertainers got off very lightly in the evenings, and there was little for the teenagers. The entertainment always finished by 11.30pm, and significantly earlier some evenings!! If you were lucky you'd get a couple of club dances at the end, but that was it.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and there was little in the way of bad behaviour. The resort had a good, friendly, atmosphere.

I think the early finish and lack of teenager targeted entertainment were probably our only real complaints and we felt we got superb value for money.

“Great for kids, and very relaxing.”

Hotel Marina Corfu

The Hotel is great for kids, the day & night entertainment was excellent.

There is only one problem that I can complain about
(THE FOOD), the food is cooked ok if you like cream based foods, however there is not enough choice & it’s very repetitive, even if you are only going for a week (we were there for two). If you are a fussy eater then this hotel is not for you.

Saying that we were in a large party with 6 kids all under 7 years & they had a ball, the entertainment staff are amazing, rooms are very clean & maids are there everyday.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting where you have the choice of pool side or sea side
