“Wonderful holiday for kids!”

Viva Sunrise

Just back from a wonderful time at VIVA Sunrise.
The kids( 8 and 6 years old) just loved it!
The even talk of going back and we have just left the place :)
We had booked breakfast and dinner, and that was fantastic!
The children loved the food (but my children love to taste even odd food..) They loved all the fun with games and activities and the Mini disco every evening at 20.00.

Thank´s VIVA we Will come back :)

“Good base for a self catering holiday”

Viva Sunrise

3 of 5 stars
Birmingham, United Kingdom

9/9 found this review helpful

We stayed at the Viva Sunrise from 25/09 - 02/10 last year.
We are a family of five with three children, aged 9, 7 and 2.
We had a two bedroomed apartment, with a cot for our youngest child.
The apartment was basic, but clean and ideal as a base for a self catering holiday. There was a kitchenette and dining area, which we only used at breakfast time for the children to eat cereals. Most cooking utensils were present, except for bowls.
I had read about this on a review on here, so went prepared with some plastic bowls for the children just to have their cereals in the mornings. There was also no kettle, but to be honest, this didn't matter, as we just used a saucepan to heat water for coffee etc.
We spent most afternoons around the hotel childrens pool area.
Our three children loved the pool, there were slides and a waterfall type tree in it, where they had great fun playing. There was also a bouncy castle and little playground at that end of the pool area. The children didn't really join in with the kids club, they were too busy doing their own thing.
The whole pool area was lovely and clean, with plenty of sun loungers during out stay, probably due to the fact that is was school term time.
There were a real mix of Europeans staying at the hotel, which is one of the reasons we chose it. Our children made friends with children from all different nationalities, language seems to be no barrier for children.
There is a poolside bar, serving snack type foods. The food was generally OK, we ate lunch there a few times.
We didn't bother with the night time entertainment, it's not really our thing, so not sure what that was like.
The room was cleaned most days. The only thing is, they use water to mop the tiled floors, which if you're out and it has dried by the time you come back is fine. However, a couple of times we were in the apartment when it was cleaned, and our youngest did slip over a couple of times, banging his head on one occassion. Luckily he was OK. Just thought it worth mentioning this.
We had a lovely corner apartment, with a balcony stretching around the hotel corner. Lovely to sit out on a warm evening. Just a word of warning: as others have mentioned, you can not open the balcony doors from outside, so it's best to leave them open whilst on the balcony.
We never ate in the hotel restaurant so can't comment on the food there, we chose to eat out in the resort, there are plenty of steakhouses selling the same kind of food. We particularly liked the steakhouse on the corner under the hotel, out of the ones that we dined at.
There is also a KFC and Pizza Hut, if you like that kind of thing.

All in all, we enjoyed our holiday at this hotel. It was our first time to Alcudia, and have to say that the beach is fantastic. We spent every morning on the beautiful sandy beach, the kids could go really far out without the water being too deep, which was great.

If we were to go back to Alcudia, then we would probably stay at the Viva Sunrise again. However, Alcudia isn't really our kind of holiday resort, so this would be unlikely.

“Stress Free Holiday”

Excellent Hotel in a quiet location (the busy resort is only 5 minutes walk away), and an ideal base for young familes. We are a family of 3 with a 3 year old and stayed B & B. The breakfast was very good, wide choice of food, to cater for all nationalities i.e. continental breakfast, fresh fruit etc. Meals at the hotel were good and prices reasonable, but many nice restaurants to visit in the resort.

There was a good mix of guests staying at the hotel of different ages and nationalities that added a nice balance to the hotel.

The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms and hotel were very clean, though agree with previous reviews that it would be nice to have a kettle!

Entertainment: Evening entertainment a bit cheesy but enjoyable for familes. There was a different professional show every night (elvis, abba, musicals etc.) great for young families. Many activities and entertainment during the day for children and hotel also had a childrens club. Good value for money and an excellent holiday!

Booked a taxi transfer through a local company called Janerbus who are a family run company. They were excellent, and accomodated our 3 year old with car seats. Would definately use this company again.

“End of Season !!!”

Viva Sunrise

3 of 5 stars

3/3 found this review helpful

Having read the reviews here we thought that this would be an ideal place to take the kids for half term.

Myself, my girlfirend and her two girls aged 9 and 5 - and my girlfirends best friend and her 4 year old boy all had high hopes of a end of season holiday.

On the whole it was a bit of a let down ( the weather wasn't good ) - not the hotels fault - however it was more than evident that it was the last week of the season.

The resort is a little tired - but the hotel is clean and modern enough - the rooms are of a good size and furnished to an ok standard.

It would be good to have a kettle / toaster and a hairdryer - thankfully we had packed "travel versions" of two of the 3 so we were ok.

A slight issue is that the in the girls room where bunk beds ( now they have these at home ) but there was no saftey rail on the top bunk and its a long way down onto a tiled floor - so the 9 year old slept on the sofa - not a major issue but something that should be addressed.

Guess the UK safety standards are different to the local ones !!!

The Buffett was ok - the kids enjoyed it - us adults prefferred to fill up at lunch time at other places to eat.

The Kids Club was running at 25% - last week of the season and all that - the Bouncy Castle was packed away mid week - there were balls for football / basketball - so I had to go and buy one myself.

Overall I am sure this is a fab place for families in the main part of the season - but very quite at the end of an 8 month holiday period.

“I Will Be Back!”

Viva Sunrise

Oct 16, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

Just back from an 18 night stay in the Viva Sunrise. Having stayed in other hotels in Alcudia, I have to say that Viva Sunrise was the best so far. From our arrival at 1am on our first night to our departure we found the staff very friendly.
By booking direct we qualified for a free drink and for filling out a simple form received a half bottle of wine. Small tokens, but well recieved.
Studio standard enough. No kettle or microwave but knew that before booking.
Selection of TV stations was poor. Only BBC World & CNN in English.
Unlucky to get a studio near the lifts, so there was constant "traffic", some noisier than others.
If I had one complaint it would be cleaners, but again this was due to the situation of our studio. Each morning at 9am (I know it's not that early, but...) there was a constant rumble of cleaner's trollys past our studio. Was like living beside a train station!
A flyer is posted under your door each night advising you of the following nights entertainment. You could book a table near the stage and get that nights menu (which included drinks) and entertainment for between €17 & €20 per person. We specially enjoyed the Moulan Rouge performance. There is also a BBQ night on Mondays where you can eat all you want!
As it was September/October sunbeds where in pleanty supply. I guess it could be busy at peak times.
Viva Sunrise appeared to cater for all types. Parents with young children, young couples and senior citizens. In fact I noted quite a presence of people in wheel chairs that seemed to be able to get around easily.
All in all, a well situated hotel, with friendly staff.
We plan to return next year.
