We stayed at the Viva Sunrise from 25/09 - 02/10 last year.
We are a family of five with three children, aged 9, 7 and 2.
We had a two bedroomed apartment, with a cot for our youngest child.
The apartment was basic, but clean and ideal as a base for a self catering holiday. There was a kitchenette and dining area, which we only used at breakfast time for the children to eat cereals. Most cooking utensils were present, except for bowls.
I had read about this on a review on here, so went prepared with some plastic bowls for the children just to have their cereals in the mornings. There was also no kettle, but to be honest, this didn't matter, as we just used a saucepan to heat water for coffee etc.
We spent most afternoons around the hotel childrens pool area.
Our three children loved the pool, there were slides and a waterfall type tree in it, where they had great fun playing. There was also a bouncy castle and little playground at that end of the pool area. The children didn't really join in with the kids club, they were too busy doing their own thing.
The whole pool area was lovely and clean, with plenty of sun loungers during out stay, probably due to the fact that is was school term time.
There were a real mix of Europeans staying at the hotel, which is one of the reasons we chose it. Our children made friends with children from all different nationalities, language seems to be no barrier for children.
There is a poolside bar, serving snack type foods. The food was generally OK, we ate lunch there a few times.
We didn't bother with the night time entertainment, it's not really our thing, so not sure what that was like.
The room was cleaned most days. The only thing is, they use water to mop the tiled floors, which if you're out and it has dried by the time you come back is fine. However, a couple of times we were in the apartment when it was cleaned, and our youngest did slip over a couple of times, banging his head on one occassion. Luckily he was OK. Just thought it worth mentioning this.
We had a lovely corner apartment, with a balcony stretching around the hotel corner. Lovely to sit out on a warm evening. Just a word of warning: as others have mentioned, you can not open the balcony doors from outside, so it's best to leave them open whilst on the balcony.
We never ate in the hotel restaurant so can't comment on the food there, we chose to eat out in the resort, there are plenty of steakhouses selling the same kind of food. We particularly liked the steakhouse on the corner under the hotel, out of the ones that we dined at.
There is also a KFC and Pizza Hut, if you like that kind of thing.
All in all, we enjoyed our holiday at this hotel. It was our first time to Alcudia, and have to say that the beach is fantastic. We spent every morning on the beautiful sandy beach, the kids could go really far out without the water being too deep, which was great.
If we were to go back to Alcudia, then we would probably stay at the Viva Sunrise again. However, Alcudia isn't really our kind of holiday resort, so this would be unlikely.
