To get straight to the point, the Viva Sunrise is simply a fantastic hotel. My wife and I along with our two children, ages 3 and 6, have just returned from Viva Sunrise and have had a fantastic time – we will be going back.

The rooms, reception area and grounds are spotlessly clean; the maid cleans the room and changes the towels five days a week. Worth a note is that the rooms are air conditioned which is lovely after and hard day sitting in the sun.

The best part about this hotel however is the entertainment. The staff work tirelessly to make sure everyone is happy. The children loved the T-shirt paining and kids club. Every evening there is a Mini disco with the hotels guest of honour - BUFO. He is a green space dog and gets the kids dancing and singing. Then it’s the main evening entertainment with is actually not too bad.

We went Bed and Breakfast which was quite a good deal. The breakfast buffet was very good; the kids especially loved the pancakes covered in chocolate sauce. We ate out most nights but the hotel evening buffet was surprisingly good and was also not too expensive. At €20 each including half a bottle of wine, (a full bottle for the two of us), it was possible to get happily full.

The beach is a ten minute walk away and is clean and soft. The sea is warm and shallow for some distance which ideal for younger children. However, the pool area is just so good we spent most of our time there. There are three pools in total which cater for children (and grown ups) of all ages and abilities.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone with a young family. The only mystery is why it is only a 3 star – it is at least 4.

We have just arrived back home to Ireland from an extremely enjoyable 2 week holiday in Viva Sunrise July 2008

We are a young family of 5 - 2 adults& 3 kids - ages 7yrs, 4yrs and 4 months.

These are our views:

1)The fruit basket & sparkling wine that greeted us upon arrival along with the welcome note offering us a free drink at the bar - this was an extremely nice gesture as we were delighted to be welcomed like that & felt glad that we had chosen Viva Sunrise, even before we had spent 1 day there. As we had arrived well after midnight, we were tired from travelling & it was really appreciated.

2)There was no cot in the room & when we phoned reception well after midnight, a cot was at our door within approximately 5 minutes - we have been left waiting hours & sometimes a day or two before on previous holidays and never have we experienced such prompt service.

3)The breakfast buffet was lovely & gave the kids great independence in being able to go and get their own.

4)We had a beautiful view of the pool but some noise disturbance at night from the Cheers Bar area in the first few days. My husband spoke to the manager about this, who assured us that he would speak to them & also call the police. The following night and every night thereafter, there was no noise disturbance. We were very impressed with how quickly and efficiently this was dealt with.

5)The day before we were leaving, reception phoned our room to offer us a take-away breakfast if we were leaving early and could not make the breakfast buffet - we have never been offered this consideration before & really appreciated it.

6)The children's entertainment was fantastic & it was great that we did not have to sign up to daily or weekly entertainment for them. To have free entertainment which allowed the children to join in or join in for certain parts of it as they wished, was absolutely excellent. The night time entertainment was great fun & thoroughly entertaining - it was of a very high standard and very enjoyable for both adults & children. It was great to be able to sit on the balcony & listen to the later entertainment if the children were asleep - on previous holidays we would have missed out on it.

7) We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was a good size - there was no microwave or kettle, but found out that these could be hired if required. We just boiled water on the rings and had brought our own electric steriliser, so did not need them. They were cleaned every day except Thurs & Sun & that was fine. The one thing that really stood out was the wardrobe space - there were two absolutely huge wardrobes & although we have had trouble in the past with storage, we had far more storage space than we needed which was great. We were also given 2 swipe cards for the room - on previous holidays we were only given 1, which caused difficulty if we were doing different things.

8) The airconditioning was great & was available 24/7.

9) The way the pool was divided up was great - there was a deep part which was separated by a very low waterfall from the waist high part, thereby making sure kids could not accidentally get out of their depth. The sun loungers were all around the pool so there were plenty of people watching the pool area. We have also stayed in hotels with no lifeguard, so to see a lifeguard on every day was reassuring. The children's pool had great slides in it and there was a big water bucket that tipped every so often & the all the kids loved playing & standing under it. Additionally, there was a small baby pool which had a permanent sun parasol over it - we found it a bit chilly, as our baby had to be held in the water, but for a toddler it would be great. We usually sat at the edge of the children's pool which sloped gently to a depth of your knees and she watched the other kids playing.


I cannot rate this hotel highly enough & we took a brochure home with us to note the other locations of the VIVA Hotels for future holidays. We booked our holiday independently and were nervous at not having the support of a travel agency - however, the hotel staff were so helpful that it was really not missed at all. We had to call the doctor for the baby during the holiday & he was fantastic & "examined" the other two healthy children also, so that they would not feel left out & they "earned" a lollipop!

It was very easy to get around with the buggy and we noticed that there were quite a few wheelchair users at the hotel, many of them children.
Apologies for the length of this review, but we really really thought Viva Sunrise was fantastic!

We have just arrived back from 2 weeks in the Viva Sunrise in Alcudia, Majorca. We are a family of four with two boys, aged eight and five. It was the best 2 weeks had by all of us and is all down to the complex. Firstly, the complex is immaculately clean and prestine. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the facilites excellent. The owners obviously take note of review as improvements have been made. Rooms now have kettles for a start.!!!! There is a great kiddies pool, games area, and two other pools, deep and shallow. The restaurant and food is gorgeous. Could do with serving pork sausages as well as frankfurters but that it the same for all restaurants cant be helped.
Now onto the entertainment. This is the highlight !!!!! There were seven entertainers on site from 10am till 11pm with entertainment for all ages of children and adults. Kids Club, sports, games, fitness, performances ..... Klas and his team of Stef, Tommy, Iris, Rhianna, Christopher and Ulrika are the main reason our holiday was so great. There was always something to do and entertain all of our family. We went out about Alcudia in the early evening but always found ourselves back at the Viva Sunrise for the entertaimment. There were also "flying teams" which rotated the Viva Hotels and the performances were excellent. Chigago, Mamma Mia, Elvis, Moulin Rouge, We will Rock you, etc, etc. And Last but not least, BUFO, the viva mascot. Bufo appeared each evening for a mini Disco for the kids and was a great hit with the kids. Will we go back ............. After this review I am booking two weeks for next year.

Myself, hubby and 3 year old have just returned from our second stay in Viva Sunrise and once again we were not disappointed.

Hotel is spotless and faciliies excellent. Superb kids pool with two slides, right beside it is a playground with bouncing castle.

Various activities throughout the day for various age groups (kids club had face painting and games) teens did water polo and football... afternoon shows for about 20 minutes consiting of parrot shows, which was very good for the kids. The entertainment staff do a very good job of accommodating everybody, even 5.00pm bingo if you want.

In the evening, there is a mini disco for the kids and then about 9pm,there is normally some class of a show. Elvis night, Abba, Beatles, then maybe Chicago... not the west end but watchable.

Food both at lunchtime and evening is of a good variety and very good...In fact we had a couple of bad meals outside of the hotel, we ended up eating there for a alot of our stay.

A well stocked shop is on hotel premises with a very good variety of food,from baby stuff, to fresh bread.

There is a laundry room on the premises which helps if you have a couple of kids.

5 mins walk from the beach which you have to go and see... really beautiful.

Old port/town about 5 mins away in a taxi and it's lovely to go up there in the evening and stroll along the marina and see the boats.

We had brilliant weather and overall had a marvellous holiday.
