Booked flights with easyJet and hotel through xscapewithus which saved about £200 over Thomas Cook. We went all inclusive for one week - 2 adults, with two kids aged two and four.

Taxi from airport was about €65 but we took the bus to Palma on the way back €25, then a €15 taxi which didnt take much longer.

I'm not sure if going all inclusive, versus half board, saved any money but it sure saved on stress as you could get whatever food and drinks you wanted without worrying if the kids would eat/drink it. Having said that the food choice was excellent and varied and you could even order cocktails and bottled san miguel with a flash of the wrist band. The kids always found something they liked to eat and I was suprised with the choice and quality of the food.

A lot of people talk about the evening entertainment but with young kids I wasnt really too fussed however we all stayed up late each night with the two year old falling asleep in the buggy and it was a great laugh - the entertainment team even did the full-monty one night - i kid you not - and it was really funny! Really exceeded my expectations!

We went in September so contention of the pool loungers was not an issue - but even so grab your towels and buckets and walk to the beach - the hotel is directly on it - and enjoy golden sand and lovely clear and warm sea water - it was great. Plus whenever you wanted a drink the hotel bar was right there too.

The staff were great too and always smiled and said "ola!" The staff looked like they loved working there.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Visited late August with children ages 8 and 6. Wonderful place. Food above reproach and plenty of choice for fussy kids. Room clean and well appointed. Air con could have been better, which is my only (minor!) gripe. Two safe pools with enough loungers. Good kids club and evening entertainment. Stayed half-board and, unless you eat/drink an AWFUL LOT in the day, I wouldn't recommend All Incl. Would happily go again.

“Fabulous Family 4 Star”

Iberostar Ciudad Blanca

5 of 5 stars
Dublin, Ireland

We travelled from Dublin on 23rd August for one week. Do not go with XL Airlines (if you are from Ireland). Book hotel and flight separately (with Aer Lingus if you can).

Arrived at hotel about 1am, very friendly reception staff even at that hour. Wasn't happy with room in Block 2, musty smell in bedroom so went back to reception and requested new room. Got our new room at 10am in Block 3 with a view of the adult pool and you could see the beach. Lovely. Block 2 is beside the nightly entertainment so can be noisey.

We were self-catering but from all accounts heard the food was lovely. We ate out every night. We walked out of two restaurants as the service was dreadful. Firstly CHILLI restaurant which is along the port facing the yachts. Dreadful service but it looked amazing when we walked in. 45 mins wait for starter that was burnt and when I told waitress she looked at me like I had 2 heads. At this point we had drank 1/2 bottle of wine and kids had two drinks but we got up and left. Told them where to stick their starter ! Avoid it like the plague. Also the Tex Mex Restaurant staff were dreadful. Don't give them the business.

We finally found a very very friendly Italian restaurant called "LA GAVINA" which is near the port facing the sea. Lovely menu, staff, food, service. Went back 4 nights.

Our Thomas Cook rep told us about the Island but raved about a small supermarket up the road, do not take this advice. It was a rip off. It was near Luna Bar. They obviously are getting some commission from the shop for recommendations made to tourists. There are cheaper shops/supermarkets around near the hotel and the Port area so shop around.

All the trips are costly so chose carefully. Ignore all the "this is the best Western show ever..." If you have been to these types of shows before in other sun spots, they are exactly the same. We went to Aquapark in El Arenal and it was very good if you have older kids as the rides are very scary and not for the younger kids. There are 2 sections dedicated to the smaller kids and they are very good. A word fo warning, you have to hire sunbeds, and inflatables which are needed for some of the rides, but there are lockers to hire to put your valuables in. They will try to get you to purchase your photos leaving the park but you just walk by and say no firmly.

Most of Alcudia shopping is very very tacky. It was too warm to go on trips to the old towns and avoid the tacky shops but I'm sure they are lovely.

Overall Alcudia is great for families with small children. Taxis are cheap as well.

Would recommend this hotel, about 80% german, 10% Swedish, 5% British and a few of us Irish thrown in for good measure. The German kids are very well behaved around the pool and compared to other hotels I've been to I'd recommend staying at German owned hotels, they have more manners and service is very very good.

Children's entertainment is very good and they put a lot into the shows at night. Always smiling staff, don't know how they do it!!

I've added some photos of the pool area.

“Can't fault the place”

Iberostar Ciudad Blanca

Just returned from Ciudad Blanca with a wife and two children aged 9 and 6. Cannot fault the place. Location is excellent on the beach and you can take a slow stroll up the beach to the port. Service was excellent, all the staff were alway polite and friendly. The food was excellent. My youngest child is a fussy eater and I have never seen her eat so much. No problems with sunbeds even later in the day. This is classy hotel which has mainly a German client base but we never experienced any issues with any Germans. The entertainment is mainly german and so are the kids clubs but I don't go on holiday to let someone else look after my kids. We stayed in Block two top floor and the views were excellent. Rooms cleaned to perfection everyday and the towels were also changed everyday. This is not your usual beer swilling, swearing at the kids holiday that many of the all inclusive British hotels have turned into (and I love my Beer). This is an excellent place if you wish to spend quaility time with your family. This holiday will be hard to beat. Kids loved it.

“Excellent...would love to go back”

We have just returned from our holiday and are wishing that we are still there. We went one week all inclusive 2 adults 2 children (8 & 5 yrs). On arrival the reception staff were helpful and spoke very good english. The apartment was very specious and clean with a reasonable view. Maid service was daily...I am unsure whether she should have been cleaning the floors but by the 4th day they could have done with a clean. We hired a safe and paid 40 euro deposit for beach towels (this saved us on baggage allowance).

The food - varied throughout the week and was delicious. There was plenty for the children to choose from, although my children aren't fussy. We helped ourselved to buffet meals and the waiters were quick to remove our empty plates, so we could continue with our next course.

The pools - very good layout of the pools. With the depths increasing gradually. There are activities carried out in the pool occasionally for the children and daily aqua aerobics for the adults. Inflatables are allowed in the pool. There is also a lifeguard patrolling the area.

Entertainment team - excellent. The children's clubs are well run by enthusiastic professionals. my children enjoyed the activities throughout the week. The mini disco was really good. The entertainment that followed was also very well done.

There is a fantastic beach on the doorstep of the hotel. The sand is soft and the sea is so clear.

The only down side to our holiday was that my husband and I did not explore the island and this was because:
1. The children loved the hotel and activities
2. It was too hot for the children to walk about
3. We were all inclusive and did not want to pay out for food elsewhere

So, if you want a family holiday where there is plenty to entertain the children or a lush hotel to return to for dinner after a day sight seeing, then this is the one i would choose. It certanly stands out from the rest.
