“Good clean hotel”

Protur Safari Park Aparthotel

4 of 5 stars
nottingham
Sep 14, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for one week from 04/09/08. We found it to be extremley clean and friendly. We have a 7 month old baby and the apartment facilities were great. A proper cot was also a big bonus. Very clean with maid service daily.

We decided not to go all inclusive as we like to eat out and do our own thing. Sa Coma though is a tiny resort with hardly any decent restaurants. We found one which was the outside BBQ one, we ate here 3 times in 1 week. The rest of the eateries tend to cater for the Brit abroad!. This being full English breakfast and sunday roast every night...... chips chips and chips with everything. This was the only gripe with resort. Apart from that it was nice.

The weather was spot on.. about 32 degrees most days. We had a couple of cloudy days but it was still really warm.
We didnt try the beach although what we saw looked really nice. Lovely and clean.
The pool at the Protur is very clean. We never struggled to get a sun lounger although i should imagine its a different story in the height of summer. We had to laugh at all the Germans though. We were up early most dayswith having a young baby. I would watch them put their towels down from 7am!!! honestly there was no need. They would then dissapear to breakfast and not return for hours. Saying that their are loads and loads of loungers so it wasn't a problem.
The only down side was that a couple of lifts were out of service for our entire week. We had to walk quite a way to get another and when you have a buggy this was a pain.
Another great point was that the coutesy room is excellent. There are 2 good showers and plenty of clean towels to use. This is by far the best courtesy room i have ever used. Good baby changing facilities also.
All in all we had an excellent week away.

“Horrendous”

Protur Safari Park Aparthotel

I don't know where to start. Dreadful. Shocked into silence. We checked out after 5 nights. It maybe fine if you are used to an "All singing & all dancing" affair.

Kids disco was screeched out every night (could be heard on the prom at the beach) with songs that my son - 5 yrs old had never heard before. (Bit like Eurovision)

Our apartment was on the ground floor, close to the stage and therefore we heard in full voice the "entertainment" every evening. It was still terrible even after the AI booze. Not sure what we were drinking with coke. Asked for Bacardi but didn"t taste like it should so we decided it was just Booze.

On opening our balcony doors in the afternoon, we were met with hundreds of people (usually with tight speedos and huge bellies) looking into our apartment. We would just shake our heads in horror.

The dining room offered plenty of choice, not sure what a lot of the food was but pretty sure some was left over from the lunch. Surely beefburgers in "red sauce" or fish in "green sauce" isnt a spanish dish - who knows??.

Because the dining rooms catered for so many guests (ours held 602) the waiters were continuously cleaning and tidying tables. It was so noisy. It was not relaxed.

The mini golf was a peaceful haven.

Overall I would not return to this hotel, it was just too big.

It seemed to cater for the German client (being first language) .

If you like "Butlins" abroad you will enjoy, there is no way I would allow any of my friends to go.

I've got so much to say but I think you get my drift.

“Fantastic Safari Park”

Protur Safari Park Aparthotel

Sep 9, 2008

We have just returned from the Protur Safari Park 29 Aug - 5 September. Brilliant, fantastic place! An excellent holiday was had by all. The facilities at the complex was in my opinion 1st class.

As previously mentioned by some reviewers - Yes there were a lot of Germans in the complex, yes they could be quite annoying, yes there were a lot of hotel guests, yes there were a lot on sunbeds - but who cares - the hotel is 1st class, an excellent place to take your family and in my opinion the standard of the hotel/apartments/food/facilities etc etc are the most important thing to look for in a holiday not how many guests or what nationality the hotel guests are.

Our group consisted of 3 over 60's 2 over 35's and one child of 6 years and everybody had a brilliant time. We booked the Safari Park after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed.

The apartments were large and very very clean. We had a problem with the air-conditioning system and one call to reception and the problem was rectified!! All the staff were extremely helpful. The all-inclusive option was brilliant and you had the option to book into different places to eat (via Clubhouse) if you wished to do so. At the Clubhouse you could hire bikes/tennis equipment and for an extra 11 euros per adult and 5 per child you could go to the La Reserva (small water park) behind the main hotel - what a brilliant place - so nice and relaxing.

If you want an excellent holiday, excellent facilities - book this hotel - I will be visiting again.

“the hotel for evryone ...”

Protur Safari Park Aparthotel

We have just came back from this hotel and we thought it was brill ,we are a couple in our late 30,s and took our 18 year old daughter and her 18 year old boyfriend ,we went all inclusive with Thomson

i cant fault the hotel and believe me i am fussy ,bit of a long travel from the airport but nothing major

The rooms where large enuff for 4 adults but we booked two rooms anyway , plenty of lifts for its 5 floors and stairs where not a major concern .

Food was always good and you could put on a lot of weight very easily ,breakfast ,lunch and dinner in the major dinning rooms with the choice of having lunch at the country grill barbie ,plenty of bars serving drinks all day and AI guests could have ice creams free.
there where other resturants you could book but we never bothered

I thought that the kids entertainment was spot on ,very funny and the kids loved it, the daft songs will stick in you head for ever ,the later entertainment was alway good if a bit odd ,mouling rouge ,the four tops ,a disney tribute, the amzing Mongolia ,all very varied and differnent but kept you interested .

its was very warm the whole week we where there ,in the high 30's and the whole place was still busy ,i would hate to go there in the high season and it must be jam packed .

a lot of folk complain abou tthe Germans but we had good fun with them playing water polo and found them to be very friendly ,no major sun bed nabbing when we where there and we got 4 beds every day by the pool after 10 am with no probs .

The biggest pain i found that a lot of the kids parents would stand around the Stage when the entertaiment was on and block the view from everyone else ,they where always told to sit down evry night by the staff ,but the next night they would do it again ..

The last night we where there they had a guests versus staff night and that was very funny and everyone got involved

All in all a great hotel plenty of stuff to do and i will def go back ,if you have kids of any age they will love it ,try to avoid the high season as it will be so busy ,we went in the 1st week in september and its was still very warm and busy but not over so .

I dont even think we descoverd half the things to do at this hotel as we where happy sitting at the pool playing mini golf and having a laff .

One place i must mention is the Kings head Pub just down the round from the hotel,we went there twice to see a couple of tribute band they have on each nite there ,We seen queen on the Friday nite and they where brill but you MUST go see the Beatles on a Wedensday night ,they where spot on, brill amzing ,so funny and down to earth and just so good ,great sound and a good bunch of lads ,the kings head pub itslef has great staff very frendly but you get some miserable bugger in there who buy one drink and keep the best seats ,personnaly i would have chucked them out but all in all i great wee pub with great entertainment and a a really good vibe everyone there was there to have fun (aprts from the seat hoggers lol)

Back home to Scotland we are all brown and will def go back the the safari

“Honest review from regular visitors”

Protur Safari Park Aparthotel

4 of 5 stars
belper derbyshire
Sep 8, 2008

My wife and I with two children aged 13 and 6 visited Safari Park for the 8th time in 4 years in August 2008, ( previous visits included are first child (15-17) we are always impressed with this hotel to such an extent that this year we invited some very good friends, I am sure they will review later.

This is a very big hotel but it never feels like it, some of the reviews are accurate and there really is not alot to complain about. I felt I should correct a few anomolies.

SUNBEDS

Yes they are 8 deep around the pool but only in ver y isolated areas (1 actually). If you want a bed directly in front of the water (on the front line as it were) then yes you have to secure one by 8.30am. But there were plenty of beds most of the day.

CLEANLINESS

This is a magnificantly clean hotel, you will always see maintenance and cleaning staff all day everyday from 7.00 AM till well past midnight, you will even spot the maintenance man walking around all day with his tin of paint and a brush.

The pool side is washed down every morning without fail.

FOOD/RESTAURANTS

In all our times at Safari Park we have never had a bad meal and never fealt rushed at the restuarants, removing the plates quickly from the table when you have finished is in my book effeciency not the waiters rushing you.

The all inclusive package is good but does require some improvement, the red wine from the bars is apalling but in the restaurant it is acceptable, the latenight sandwiches are not really worth the effort and really needs improvement.

ROOMS

Good clean rooms, with just enough equipment, house keeping every day but Tuesdays and Sundays.

To summerise this is a wonderful hotel and will keep the family entertained all day, there is a large european guest base. Germans, English, Dutch and Spanish and the entertainment is spoken in all those launguages and English isnt the first. But surley thats part of the holiday is it not?
