Lovely location, rooms basic but very clean, balconly very very small which was a nuisence as we like to sit out and have a drink late afternoons and evenings. You could only stand out on it, one person at a time.
pool very small and not much sun but roof top terrace and jacuzzis were lovely, lots of sun and very comfortable sun beds.
food was ok, breakfast good but evening meal consisted of alot of pork and fish. even the pasta salad and cabbage had ham in it! if you manage to get a good rate for this hotel then it is more than adequate.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Maritim, it was everything we expected of a european sun holiday.
All areas of the hotel were extremely clean and throughly cleaned daily. Families tended to stay near the pool although, getting a bed, means putting your towles out before breakfast. The hotel has just opened a roof top terrace with 2 jaquzzis (take the lift to 7th floor and you'll see an external staircase) and loads of sunbeds. Always able to get one a lot of those. The jquzzis are great to cool off and relax. Plus kids tend not to be up there, very peaceful.
The breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety, cereals, fruit, cold meats and cheese (never quite understand that!) and cooked breakfast items. Bacon and Sausages not quite like the ones at home, but tasted great. Although, we had paid for Half board we didn't eat in the hotel. The buffet style wasn't quite to our taste but did look perfectly edible. Pizza, nuggets etc for kids, and pork steaks for example for the adults.
We ate out every night and there are a lot of restaurants at very reasonable prices. Although the resort layout was not quite what I expected. Shame no restaurants along the beach front, and many cellar style, few with outdoor eating areas, but all great food. There is also a McDonalds in case you are really stuck, but we managed to find plenty.
The beach is very long and sandy (quite rough but extremely clean). Lots of bars on the beach and the beah is split into different zones with different activities. Peddlo's and beach volley ball courts etc.
Boat trips available up the coast to Lloret de Mar, from right near the hotel (no pier, look out for the ticket sales hut. Free bus services to local water parks.
I was worried about the train line running so close to the hotel, but they are amazingly quite and only 1 every 40 mins or so and not through the night.
Train station 15 mins walk from hotel, exellent service and less then 7 euros return to Barcelona, I would definately recommend this, of stopping off at one of the quieter beaches on the way into Barcelona. The train takes 1hour to Barcelona and once there we did the tour bus around the city, with hop on, hop off at all the attrations. The best way to see it. Also found the best Paella in a restaurant called Navarra just off the central square.
I always avoid the English bars on holiday, but found Alcatraz, also a sorts bar, but best atmosphere in resort. mixture of different sports on many tv screens, Bingo & Karoke every night. Great entertainment even though we only spectated.
Fab holiday. Loved the hotel, resort generally quiet but a few bars and clubs if you fancy them.
We have just returned from Hotel Maritim, it was the best holiday of are lives. It had such great staff, and overall a lovely hotel. Cleanliness was an essential to us and this hotel got top marks. It had daily made service which ensured the rooms were at there best. The food was amazing, it had such a variety of choice each night and in the morning had traditional english breakfast options which was a real plus. The thing we loved most about this hotel was it was situated 2 minutes away from all the great nightlife, we have never experienced anything like it. It was also right infront of the beach which was great. Both of us loved the roof top jacuzzis they were great just to relax and catch a great tan. We had a room looking over the beautiful beach. We are hoping to go back next year if there is any rooms available.
Much Love.
I my husband and 2 grandchildren a girl and a boy ages 6/7 have just returned from the maritim hotel. After reading mixed reviews, we did not know what to expect but we worried needlessly. We were pleasantly surprised as we observed a spacious 2 bedroom apartment with plenty of wardrobe space/hangers/ as many pillows as requested, a large balcony and bathroom. We had booked a family room. Our room was on the fourth floor with a sea view. The only down side to this was that the teenagers are on the beach till the early hours of the morning ,so if you are light sleepers you may find this disturbing and would be better off with a pool view room. The food was fine and plentiful. There was no excuse to come away hungry. There are many nationalities staying there and we found this wonderful as they are all family orientated. You will play the funniest game of bingo ever in all nationalities. It puts a new light on such a mundane game. The kids entertainment is great with a mini club at 3pm for two hours and a mini disco of an evening. There was even a foam party for them! The adult entertainment was as good as any including professional shows. There are lots of plusses to this hotel such as roof terrace/indoor pool/ jacuzzi. The down side would be that there are some very small balconies not large enough to sit on and the sea view rooms can be noisy at night due to rowdy teenagers that come home in the small hours after partying. If you are a light sleeper a pool view room would be preferable. The hotel drinks whether soft or alcoholic are a little on the expensive side but they seemed to be outside of the hotel as well. We paid a little extra for lunch as well and this was well worth the money at £4 per head .A special thanks to Alba the childrens entertainer who was loved by all. All in all a nice little hotel for a family holiday. Would return if going with children
