We spent 11 nights at this resort in September 2008 and, I have to say, it far exceeded our expectations.
We booked one of the Cortijo Villas and were extremely impressed with it. We had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining/sitting room, a patio (with built in barbeque) and huge garden. The villa was really big and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay - even a washing machine! Believe me, when you're travelling with 2 kids under 4 this is a bonus. Next year, I'll bring half the amount of clothes with us.
The house was cleaned while we were there and our bed linen and towels changed 3 times. In addition, the gardeners were up cutting the grass etc on numerous occasions too.
The pool areas are lovely and the kids pool is really safe too. There's a Life Guard on duty during the day. The whole area has been sympathetically planted so the kids pool benefits from shade for most of the day. There is a kids club too in the mornings and this proved to be a big hit. The bar at the pool is really good for lunch and is open until midnight. There's a beachside bar that stays open until 2am too.
If you are walking into Cambrils, there is a boardwalk and cycle track that runs the whole way in. It only takes about 25 minutes to walk there. Cambrils itself is a nice little fishing village. If you're looking for Irish and English bars, you won't find them here (I'm delighted to say). We ate out in a few restaurants and found the ones in the backstreets far superior to the pier-side ones.
The resort hires bikes, has horse riding, tennis and windsurfing and catamaran lessons so there's something for everyone in the family.
There are very few Irish or English visitors at this resort as it was previously owned by a Swiss company. The majority of visitors were either Swiss or German and the ones we spoke to were repeat visitors. Our intention is to be repeat visitors too!
