My sweetheart, who originally comes from St. John's, and I stay at this lovely place each time we are in St. John's. It is one of the most lovely, pristine spots I've ever encountered. I'm a prairie girl so I love getting to the ocean as often as I can and, in my humble opinion, the east coast of Canada offers some of the most amazing views on this earth. I've traveled in Europe and on our continent fairly extensively and The Beach House competes with the best hotels and locations in the world (and I've had the good fortune to stay on a 1000 foot cliff in Santorini, Greece overlooking the Aegean Sea, so that should give you an idea how lovely this spot is).

The owners are lovely and will attempt to accommodate any requests you may have. The lovely women who take care of your rooms are worthy of large tips as they are fabulous conversationalists yet they know when to respect your privacy. They are wonderful ambassadors for their establishment and their province.

This place will show you the very best that Newfoundland has to offer, and there is plenty to love about this province. Now that they have a fabulous restaurant on site you can enjoy your meals right there and the view from the restaurant is stunning. Take your time, enjoy the meal because you do no service to yourself by rushing this decadent experience. The chef will likely come visit you as well and he is very humble and affable.

I actually thought of not writing a review because I don't want too many people to know about it (purely selfish) but I must give credit where it is due. The location is not only beautiful it is practical; only a few minutes from St. John's airport and within walking distance from several corner stores for emergency items (like, wine, mix or potato chips). :)

Book well in advance and be sure to visit Bell Island, it's a lovely place too for a slow and easy drive or walk around the island. Take in the culture and the tours of the old mine or some of the cemeteries. Cemeteries are often the best way to peek into the past of a town. Bell Island is the only place in Canada to see direct action on its shores during WWII.

The Beach House is wonderful and amazing. Enjoy and tip well, they deserve it.

The Beach House is amazing! We stayed there in September 2006 in a Signature room. The room was modern, clean, and very nicely decorated. The view was the best part. Our window was huge and we watched the Bell Island Ferry and the ocean from our jacuzzi and bed. The area is great for hiking and exploring. The staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful. We will be going back this summer for sure! I highly recommend this spot!

This place is simply outstanding!! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All rooms overlooked the ocean. The Osprey room was very large, clean and tastefully decorated. A great place to spend a quiet, relaxing time with a special person. Had a meal at the upscale Atlantica restaurant (attached to Hotel). Excellent food..a bit pricey but who cares when you are having such a great time.
Location is 15 min drive from St.John's airport, another 5 min to the city. Highly recommend this location to anyone visiting St.John's. Check this place out....you won't be disapointed~~Beautiful ocean-side rooms with private patios.See attached photos for view(s).

“Wonderful Experience”

Stayed in the Osprey Honeymoon Suite. The room is very large, king bed, microwave, fridge. Very large bathroom and a nice gas fireplace. It had a small private balcony overlooking the water. We were very pleased with the accomodations. The wireless internet was reliable. It has modern decor which was a nice change from the usual B and B scene. Went hiking along the East Coast Trail and went to Mistaken Point to see the sea bed fossils. Saw dolphins from our room. The windows overlooking the ocean span the entire room. The only complaint was the poor water pressure.

“Wonderful view, great experience”

The Beach House Rooms and Suites

Stayed at the Beach House our last night in Newfoundland, since it is so close to the airport. Were wonderfully surprised when we arrived as the location was great (right on the water overlooking the cove and Bell Island) and the facility so modern and well kept. We stayed in one of the signature rooms. Very spacious, huge picture window overlooking the cove and water, very modern and immaculate, a refrigerator with water, juice and snack bars. Huge walk thru shower and jacuzzi tub. They are finishing up on a large addition to the complex...it looks like there will be a dining room. The signature rooms do not come with a private balcony, but outside we had access to a covered porch that overlooked the cove. From there we could see whales swimming!! Could also watch the Ferry to Bell Island pass...but it was quiet and not disturbing in any way.
Walking distance to a nice place to eat (Beachy Cove). Wished we could have stayed longer, great access to airport, owners very accomodating (altho office is closed in evening and no staff on site). My only complaint was that occupants of room above us used their jacuzzi tub late at night and noise level in our room very loud from their jacuzzi (loud enough to keep us awake until they finished). Overall, however, you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer facility!!
