I am an Haitian writer, born in Jacmel and I went to the study in the United States under the instigation of Joe CROSS, the owner of Florita Hotel. My name is JEAN-ELIE GILLES. When I came back home I was pleased to see how Florita has changed. Like always, I like to sleep in different hotels of my town to know what to recommand to my different students and guest who arrive from the United States. I was charmed by Florita Hotel because of its antique colonial and nineteen century furniture decor in a mansion fit for a royal getaway. Everything here is rustic and beautiful. The food is good, the bar is well-off and the beds are spacious and the rooms are so romantic. pretty soon they will have a pool and that will be perfect.

“Un unforgettable place”

After being thinking where to go in our honeymoon, we chose, as part of our trip, this unknown place, for us in the heart of the Caribbean. Although we had never heard about this location before, a friend of mine, who had been stayed there not long time ago, recommended this friendly and paceful seaside location to us. Furthermore, and taking into account our kind of trip, he suggested the Hotel Florita as the most romantic, cozy and fancy hotel in town.
Not only was one of the most beautiful places we have been, but also one of the safest indeed, so we used to walk through the village and trek accross isoleted aereas with our valuable belongings such as a DVD Handycam and a Nikon digital camera without being afraid of being stolen or whatsoever due to the fact that we were in the poorest country in America. In fact, we felt safer than in Buenos Aires where we live.
Regarding the hotel, we were actually welcomed by a charming and friendly staff. Staying there, we felt like at home, and as antique devotees this hotel was the right one. In fact, the well furnished rooms, the amazing courtyard with flowers hanging from the old trees, and the features of the building make this hotel a unique place. Needless to say, the places to visit such as the Iron market, the waterfall of Bassin Bleu, and the Timoullage and Cyvadier Beaches among others.
If you have the chance of being in Haiti, you should not miss this picturesque location in this enjoyable and pleasant hotel.

“Beautiful but overpriced”

This small guest house is located in a beautiful turn-of-the-century townhome that's in the process of being restored. The courtyard is a lush jungle with climbing vines and dangling flowers. The place has lots of character and mahogany furniture and you can hear the ocean.
However, apparently not all rooms are equal and the one I got, though charming, had no A/C, hot water, lighting in the bathroom, or window screens. An unsleepable night of heat and hundreds of mosquitos is not worth $55.
