The room was clean and had Direct TV which was good. The rooms are very small for the money, but one is really there for the beach, I suppose. The owner leered at me which made me feel uncomfy and I had to say something to him. I wanted to change places to stay but I was already there and on the beach all day anyway. I stayed in room 3, and on the 2nd night, the TV came on all by itself.. the 3rd and final night, the ceiling fan was off when I woke up in the morning. I clearly remember standing on the bed and pulling the chain for the fan, meanwhile the wall switch in on position. When I awoke in the morning, the wall switch was in the off position. That being said, I didn't feel fearful of the entity that was there..not at all.
Flamenco beach is worth traveling all the way to Culebra for. There were tourists from Spain., Sweden, the US.. all over.
I went by myself as a gift from my bf (he was unable to come..:( ), but I met a group of young, hip, educated Puerto Rican men and women from the big island camping on the beach, which is permitted there. They had brought their car on the cargo ferry, full of all their provisions. I had a great time with them. Everyone on the beach was super cool. Glass bottles are not permitted and there is a cop at the entrance checking everyone's coolers..fyi.

From start to finish
my partner and i
had a great experiance
staying at posada la hamaca
booking was a snap
i called and talked to Adam
who is the manager
he was really nice about answering all my questions
and sent me my confirmation
per e-mail 10 minutes after our phone conversation
when we got to the island
we found that hamaca was a very short walk from the ferry
which was awsome because who wants to cart around
heavy luggage....
Adam was so great
and the place its self was so cute and fresh and tropic looking
our room was small
but clean with a really comphy bed and crisp sheets
(i loved that)
bath room was small too
but it served its purpose
we spent alot of time on the back deck that over looked
a clear blue cannal
we also spent a good amount of time talking
with Adam
about how he was going to continue
to make hamaca better and better
i cant say enough about posada la hamaca and Adam
our five day stay was just the best!
my partner and i almost asked Adam for jobs
just so we could stay
if you are staying on Culebra
i would 100%
advise you to check out this place
i hope you enjoy our pictures

This is a great little hotel. Now, I must preface this by saying this is a small, remote, undeveloped island....so if you are expecting a 5-start caribbean resort built in 2007, you won't find it anywhere on this island.
Overall, PLH (Posada) is an excellent place to stay. They are working hard to keep this hotel very nice. It looks like they have painted the entire interior/exterior in the past 6 months. The patio area that is amazing just got two very nice new tables with umbrellas/chairs and brand new awesome BBQs.

Location: In the small town of Dewey (small as in you can walk anywhere in 5 minutes). The hotelis located on a saltwater canal between the two bays and the outdoor patio borders this waterway, so you can have your morning coffee and read your book in comfort sitting on the patio with the water present. Because the property is downtown it can be noisy. There are roosters all over the island that tend to make a lot of noise (I live next to a hospital and sleep through ambulances all night, but the roosters starting at 3:30am are killer---bring ear plugs). It is very close to mamacitas which can be pretty loud on some nights, but it totally gets quite by 11pm.

Rooms/building: As said before new paint, looks good. Both of our rooms had AC that was excellent (turned it off during the day and in the afternoon it would cool the room in less than 5 minutes). Bathrooms a little small, but not a major deal. Showers only, no baths. Can't flush toilet paper anywhere on the island, so it goes in a garbage can. Not that my [--] stinks, but I would recommend bringing or buying some zip lock bags rather than just tossing it in the trash can! Great maid that cleans things very well between guests. The windows don't have glass, only thin plastic or screen only with outside metal shutters. This could be improved and doesn't help with the rooster noise.

Posada La Hamaca is under new management and Adam, the new director is doing a great job of updating Posada La Hamaca. Posada La Hamaca is a great place to stay in Culebra. The rooms are nice and are priced well and you do not need a rental car while staying there. Posada is located in the town near all the small restaurants and is accessible to the Public transportation to get to Flamenco Beach. It's a great place for a family to stay.

Adam speaks English very well and is very accomodating! You can call Posada La Hamaca directly to make your reservation or go to their website and make it there. posada.com

Thanks to Adam and Posada La Hamaca for a wonderful stay for our family.

We stayed 4 nights in Culebra from March 3rd- March7th 2007. Posada la hamaca was PERFECT. I mean I'm reading some of these people's reviews and they must have stayed at a different place than I did. Six of my friends and I went to Culebra for Spring Break and had the most incredible time.

Posada la Hamaca is nice man. All the appliances were new. Everything was very clean. It was plenty of room for all 7 of us. It had 4 full beds. Everyday they had a cooler for us to us with fresh towels. I mean for all that and the location you can't beat $200 a night 7 ways. And once again LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

We arrived in Culebra at the airport around 5pm. Took a taxi into town for $2 a person. Santo (the dudes name) gave us his card and for the 5 days drove us anywhere we wanted to go for $2 dollars. Every time we called him he was there in less than 5 mins, no joke.

The location is amazing I mean you are 30 seconds from 2 grocery stores, a liquor store, Mamacita's (the best restaurant we went to the entire time), Dingy Docks (the best bar we went to the entire time), Pan Deli (the best cheap place to eat breakfast or lunch), and in the heart of anything relevant in the town of Dewey.

We spent our first day at Flamenco and still can't believe what we saw. I mean I have looked at the pictures every hour on the hour since we have gotten back. We spent most the day there and then spent the night at the bar of Mamacitas enjoying live music. Then we went to Dingy Docks where the nice people of Mamacitas go when they close to drink. We had an awesome time the owner of Dingy Docks was giving us free shots and sitting there talking with us giving us tips about where to go and what to do.

The second day we went to Carlos Rosario Beach for snorkeling and once again still can't even believe what we saw. We had seen 20+ pound fish tropical blue, neon green, and pink. I mean it was nuts. We spent most of the day there. And went to Dingy Dock's for dinner. Dingy Docks is awesome for lunch and breakfast but don't really waste your time for dinner. They had good food but an insanely small variety considering what they have for breakfast and lunch.

The third day we spent most of the day at the Wildlife refuge snorkeling. Once again it was really cool. There were plenty of beautiful coral and insanely colored plant life. If you want to see insane fish head to Carlos Rosario (haha which you have to walk through an old mine field to get to) but if u want to see incrediable coral the refuge is your place.

The fourth day we called Santo and he took us to Zoni for $5 dollars a pop. Once again almost as beautiful as Flamenco but no one around. It was a mile of beach and excluding us there may have been 7 people. Side note though if you do head there haha tell the taxi driver when you want to be picked up because we all had cell phones and all had service but none of it worked even though we had bars. We had to walk a hilly 1/2 mile before it went through. The beach was also just insane. It redefines natural beauty.

On the fifth day we caught the ferry out to Fajardo and then to Vieques. By the way the ferry is the cheapest thing ever and a beautiful ride. My girlfriend and I decided to buy tickets to Fajardo and then to Vieques all from the port in Culebra for both of us combine... it was $4.00. By far the best value of the trip. Its a smooth hour ferry both ways and it was nothing but enjoyable.
