We went for breakfast and never having been there before - we stood at the place order area stunned with the menu on the wall.

A woman came over and told us we could take a menu and grab a table - a much better option for us as we needed a cup of coffee.

We sat for over 15 minutes before finally going to the front and asking if anyone would take our order. We were told we needed to place it at the desk (no servers). THAT information was a small nugget that was important.

We proceeded to order our breakfast burritos which sounded amazing.

We were told that breakfast ended 12 minutes ago 'to be exact'. UNBELIEVABLE. We sat at their table for longer than that.

We decided to forgo giving them any of our money and headed for Moose McGillicuddys. The breakfast was also over but the service and food was tremendous.

Be warned, it is self serve.

I had read the reviews and saw that it was a great place for getting box lunches for Hana, and they were right! For $12 you get a big sandwich, chips, yummy brownies, a pineapple boat and sodas! For a $5 deposit fee, they will give you a cooler with ice. The food was really good and there was a lot of it! They also give you plates, silverware and wrap your lettuce, tomato and pickle separately so your sandwich doesn't get soggy. They take care of you!!

We had the best food in Maui at CJ's Deli and Diner. The french fries were fresh and the pineapple fried rice was intricate with fabulous flavors. We had a hard time finding good food that was reasonably priced during our 3 weeks in Hawaii. CJ's in Lahaina was the best.

We tried this place early on our trip to Maui, and I am SO glad we did. We ended up eating here 3 or 4 times to try different things and never had a bad meal. In fact, they were all near mind-blowing for the price. Best food I've ever had off a paper plate. Mochicco Chicken was a favorite, as was the Mixed BBQ Plate (Mahi Mahi, Chicken and BBQ Ribs w/ rice, mashed potatoes and veggies for $12.95!!!). For breakfast, try the breakfast wrap (breakfast burrito, basically). I was sad to leave Maui in large part because it meant leaving this local gem.
