Quite surprised to find that the hotel was a block or so from the shore as views were promised from all units. We had a garden unit and found it to be very dark with cigarette smoke drifting in from the people smoking outside their unit next door. There was a glimpse of the sea. I can see that an upstairs unit would have the benefit of a view but we didn't appreciate this when we booked.
The room was much what I expect from a kiwi motel and was acceptable for a couple of nights.
Beware when going into reception...there is a small raised 'lip' on the threshold which caused me to trip into the reception area and crash into the desk.
The owner appeared and when I told her what had happened she said 'oh yes, lots of people do that' ..no apology.... not a good start! So contrary to the other reviews I'm afraid Admiral's View didn't quite live up to our expectations.
